player.dbf question

is there anyway that you can add items or change items in the player.dbf file using some sort of program or something?? i mean without actually opening it up manually to make the process automated for patches.

I'm not sure if Blotch01 can be used with NBA Live 2003. If not, I don't think there's a utility available for NBA Live 2003 yet.
