The game is too fast, and the percentages are too high. But nothing that can't be solved by community rosters. Generally the ratings are too high for most players especially FG and 3PT ratings. I think we are looking at having to lower these by a great, Andrei Kirilenko is a 27 percent 3PT shooter and rated at 75 and I have gone 3 for 3 or 4 for 4 with him in games.

Generally when you play the computer you'll find that they will tend to break a lot but it can be controlled, Missed 3 pointers are a good way to generate a computer fast break, much like real life.

Point Guards are too agressive, If you play the Lakers for instance Derek Fisher will score a lot and shoot an awful lot. The first game I played was Jazz-Hornets and Baron Davis came out of the game with foul trouble and Bryce Drew was brought in, he scored 22 points on 4-8 3's, Lowering every PG's primacy rating should help with this.

The rebounding is much improved, but Offensive rebounds are perhaps a little rare, but nothing we can't fix with rosters.

I felt that it emulated the ebb and flow of the game fairly effectively, I really enjoyed the game versus the Hornets, in the 3rd Wesley got them going, he became very active and drew a lot of fouls.

Free Throws are very difficult, and will certainly provide a challenge.

The commentary was fairly decent, and they are not limited to just one colour comment per Star player, so far I have heard 3 for John Stockton and 2 for Karl Malone.

So far out of the 3-4 games I have played in my season I have found you really feel pressured on the road and playing at home is something you look foward to, which is nice, the stadiums attendance reflects the teams quality as well.

Unfortunately the teams are just rated now overall and there isn't the breakdown (Ballhandling, Defence, Offence, Rebounding) that we are used too.

Sorry for the rather disjointed ranting, if anyone has any questions just ask away, I'm at work right now and will be able to reply pretty quickly.

got the game too, and i edited the players.dbf to make the pace a little less frantic.
fg - 40%
3fg - 40%
stl - 50%
bl - 50%
speed - 20%
jumping - 30%

the shooting percentages are down @ about 50-55%(still too high)
3ptrs are good @ about 35% (varies a lot)
steals better now, but still a lot of passes picked off or balls are stolen when i have it in the post. what really ticks me off is that you can´t do any high lob passes, every pass is chest high or a bouncer thus so many of them are picked off.
blocks....i got them down to about 10 in a game with 8 min quarters but this isn´t satisfying at all. i think they made playing defense way too much arcade-ish, cause you can hardly defend someone into taking a bad shot...it´s always like that: spectacular offensive move(s) followed by dunk/alley oop or monster-block. i think i read it somewhere in tim´s interview that they "wanted to make playing defense just as much fun as playing offense." ... but where´s that "make your opponents work hard for a good shot"-like defense? what we got is almost like nba jam(who remembers this one? :)). i really hope this issue can be solved with good roster patches.

Excellent stuff on the rosters, anychance you can email them too me?

Your right it is way to difficult to play defence, if you stay in front of your man and play solid defence it really doesn't affect him a great deal, he will still hit his shots. The only effective way to play defence it seems is to either steal the ball, block a shot or take a charge, because you know if you don't do any of these the guy will make his shot.

i edited it with m$ access and excel. i used access to be able to read all the data clearly, copied the respective tables over to excel and subtracted the respective % points from the ratings. then i copied it back to access and that´s it :)

Hey,

it is time for the dbf tool. I hope that we get some tools in the near
future also for the new rosterpatch with lower ratings.

Ability to get past defenders

Postby edouble on Wed Nov 13, 2002 8:51 am

I have the XBOX version and I find it to easy to get to the basket, and no matter how low you make the block ratings, block shots still happen to frequently. The demo version of live seemed to better, but did they tone down the blocks at all or is the demo just the new version limited to two teams and 4 minute quarters? Does it play any different?
