Changing the Year

Can you make a season/franchise start at the year 2010, or change it to any other year? Because in franchise mode, players won't retire for a good 5 years and their years pro get all out of wack when playing with 2010 and 2011 rosters.

Also is it possible to change the year in the middle of a franchise?

I think it's impossible.

I learned a method from tommy, simulate up to the 2010/2011 season, save the game, go to your saved folder and copy the 2010-2011 players.dbf file over the existing one. Go back to the load/save menu and load your saved folder. That simple, and it works fine

Then the ratings of players will be ridiculous. Steve Nash will probably improve from 93 overall to 98 overall and Rajon Rondo will be dominant 3 point shooter. Even Desagana Diop gets an overall rating 85.

As far as I know, it can't be done as you'd like it to be done. The way I've compensated in the NBA Live 2005-08 rosters is to offer a batch file which changes the year of birth for all players so that the game recognises them as being older.
