My current roster -TEST thread, 2b rel. aft. trade deadline

Wed Feb 06, 2008 4:36 am

I have the converted 07-NLSC-roster for Live 2005 with Jonthefon's SGSM folder.

I've been updating the roster every day, signed players etc. for weeks.
Every team has its real players. The final update will be on the day of the trade deadline.

If I get the permission of Andrew, Jon and the guys that made the NLSC roster I can upload my current roster.

It has all the correct players on their teams. Moreover, I removed retired players from the free agent pool.

I have a small problem though. When selecting Houston the game crashes. It used to work without flaws but suddenly it crashes although I didn't change the team. Hopefully I will be able to solve this problem.

It's OK by me. :)

Well, you don't need my permission since it was Andrew who made the roster and Ryan who converted it. I just did the same thing as you, modifying it.

You might want to check out any art updates you're using for the Rockets/Rockets players. When it crashes, are any error messages displayed?

Thu Feb 07, 2008 11:11 pm

Andrew No. No message. Before the actual game the loading process is indicated by basketballs. At about 80% NBA Live quits to the desktop.

I didn't install updates. I only deleted Yao Ming's external cyber face and tattoos because of the applied sweat texture. It worked.
It crashed days after. I even copied them back into the sgsm-folder but still the crash.

Have you made any changes to the DBF since then, specifically to any Rockets players?

Fri Feb 08, 2008 11:12 pm

No.

What I did with DB Commander: I edited some ratings of David Lee and Nate Robinson. Moreover, I retired some players.

I updated the rosters ingame via sign/release players (without the trade function as this would recalculate ratings and the 07 ratings would drop to 05 ratings).

Everything worked. I continued to update rosters via sign and release players until the day Houston suddenly crashed.

I tested Yao Ming in practice mode. He can't dunk anymore, only makes layups. Same for Mutombo. The third player I tested was McGrady whose dunks are still working. Yao Ming's and Mutombo's dunkpacks seem to be corrupted. Maybe other values were changed as well, causing the game to crash.

I don't know why this happened. I didn't do anything.

EDIT Had a look. Mutombo's dunkpack is set to 3. What does this mean? I didn't know what's what...so I just took the value of E. Dampier...and changed Mutombo's dunkpack to 6. Now he can dunk again!

I also saw that some fields e.g. monthly mvp are filled in. Should it be 0 for all players? The problem is that NBA Live's roster saves need to be loaded each game. When I enter the game, load my roster...sim a season for testing purposes...exit...load the game again...the season roster is still active. Maybe I just forgot to load my roster, used a roster with a simmed season and signed and released players afterwards.

I still have a backup of my roster. I will have a look if the game crashes, too, when playing with the Rockets.

Ok, bad luck. No backup. So I have to redo the rosters again. :( Some hours of work ahead. :(

That is the problem ;)

Information on the different attributes in the DBF files can be found in the NBA Live 2005 section. Check under Resources. :)

Thanks Andrew, I already know this.

I wanted to remake my roster update and downloaded Jon`s files. I didn`t mess up my roster but Jon`s has these flaws.

Yao Ming and Mutombo already have a corrupted dunkpack in his files and Houston crashes, too. I only realized these problems now cause I had never played with the Rockets so far.

Who has a working roster now?
Jon's sgsm3.rar has a roster but it crashes due to missing 0s. His NLSC0808 doesn?t crash but has the erros concerning Ming and the Rockets.

Who has a working roster?

Well, on my game Houston works fine, at home or not. Strange things.

I'll work on a few of the more major transactions and re-upload the roster to see if it works.

Sun Feb 10, 2008 11:28 pm

Could it be that it crashes with the default AIACT? And works with MM07 AIACT?

It's just strange.

Ok...tested it.

My roster crashes again and again, no matter what AIACT I use.

I tested your roster on the first page of "SGSM folder released"...the one included in sgsm3.rar. It works BUT Yao Ming doesn't dunk. He doesn't dunk with MM07 aiacts although you once proposed them to me. When I use 06 with different shots aiacts he can dunk. I don't have a glue what happens here. I thought that everything worked with all kinds of AIACTS.

Are your rosters only for certain AIACTS?
Is there a roster available where Ming dunks with standard AIACTS?

Live05 with 06 aiacts --> Mutombo dunks.
Live with different aiacts -> no dunks.
But the dunkpacks for both 05 and 06 say that a dunkpack of 3 is only layups.

The dunkpack values for Live 07 say that a dunkpack of 3 means layups and basic dunks. But why then 06 aiacts and not 07? I just don't understand all this. And Eric Snow, O. Harrington and Mutombo all have the same dunkpack. What's the relation?

Ok, my roster works again! Lucky me. :) No need to start from scratch.
I tested Houston's players one by one, starting with created players. Louis Scola is the bad guy! I released him, put him to the FA pool and voila! Houston works again. :)

Put him back to his team. I took a look on his values but couldn't find any mistakes. I also have his portrait and cyberface. The cyberface consists of luscola, luscolaB and luscolaB_hair. Luscola has 1.345kb.

Andrew and Jon: could you please download my roster and check Scola in the players.dbf? I just can't find the mistake.

All others: DO NOT DOWNLOAD this file as it is not complete yet. I will release a full and working version after the trade deadline.

Custom AIACT files often change the dunk packages. The guides posted in the NBA Live 2005 section refer to the default values only, so if you're using a custom AIACT file they won't necessarily be accurate.

I've taken a quick look and there doesn't appear to be any errors with Scola in players.dbf or appearance.dbf. I'm inclined to think it's a problem with the art.

Mon Feb 11, 2008 11:49 am

Thanks for testing!

Yao Ming with NLSC0708 roster:

a) default AIACT: only layups
b) March Madness 07: only layups
c) 06 dunks with different shots: dunks and layups

I have Seyshiro`s (can`t remember his name) AIACTS...

Mon Feb 11, 2008 11:57 am

What's his DUNKPACK set to? That's the next thing to doublecheck.

Mon Feb 11, 2008 8:26 pm

Same as Mutombo's...3. I didn't change anything. I kept the original NLSC0708 ratings and values except for David Lee and Nate Robinson.

Tue Feb 12, 2008 9:26 am

That's very odd. Try setting it to 17, perhaps.

Tue Feb 12, 2008 2:37 pm

  maybe scola's hair has the problem.. :?:

Tue Feb 12, 2008 11:17 pm

Thanks Wysper, El Barto already pointed this out. Now it works. I will release the roster after the trade deadline.

Wed Feb 13, 2008 5:44 am

Were you able to resolve the problem with Yao Ming? That's definitely strange as he should have the ratings to perform dunks regularly with that dunk package. I do seem to remember the game assigning a default DUNKPACK value of 17 for players over 7'1" though.

Wed Feb 13, 2008 7:18 am

The roster wasn't created for 05 but for 07 I think. The dunkpacks differ. Mutombo doesn't dunk at all in practice but when I use 06 aiacts he dunks often. The dunks are also typical of a player of his size.

Still he has the same dunkpack value as Eric Snow, Othella Harrington and a mix of players. Just looking it up...A. McKey, Chris Mullin, Christian Laettner...
Well... ;) LOL Also David Wesley, Eric Piatkowsky and big men such as Ilgauskas and Tyson Chandler.

Come on, David Wesley and Ilgauskas with the same dunkpack? LOL
I think it refers to 06 dunkpack values or 07. In 06 a dunkpack of 3 means standard dunks and layups...and maybe the cpu then chooses between dunks and layups calculating jump ratings and height. I'm not the expert, you are. :)
Perhaps the creators of the converted roster only used 06 aiacts or 07...and didn't know that the default 05 aiacts don't work.

In the default roster of 05 Mutombo has a dunkpack of 13 I think.
Some have 13, some have 17 (Yao Ming, Ilgauskas).

Now I don't know whether I should just use other aiacts than 05 or edit the dunk packages...but this would be a lot of work.

The list continues, with dunkpack values of 3...Bonzy Wells, Jahidi White, Jerome James, Quentin Richardson, Kenny Thomas, Chris Mihm etc. etc...

I just don't get it...Shannon, Ryan, Jon released rosters - NLSC 06/07, 07/08...and in each of them Yao Ming, Danny Fortson, Robert Parish and the players listed above have a dunkpack of 3. I don't understand why nobody noticed that all those players only make layups with the default AIACTS. That's nothing against you, guys. Your work is still great! But I'm wondering why nobody noticed it. I think this is due to the fact that nobody is playing with default 05 aiacts. It could also be that the rosters require other AIACTS than 05 to work...don't know.

Jon said that MM 07 aiacts are the best.
The dunkpacks only work with 06 aiacts...so I have to use those or edit all dunkpacks.

EDIT Tested it...no, the only way is to edit all dunkpacks of certain players. I said before that those players only dunk with 06 aiacts but just had a look on their moves. The layups are way too athletic and the dunks are as well. For players like Yao Ming, Mutombo or Ilgauskas, an energetic guard-like layup with feet flying is not suitable. The two-handed dunks are ok but there are also high-flying ones and tomahawks, Pippen or Kemp-style.

Wed Feb 13, 2008 8:38 am

I'd say it's simply an oversight, a DUNKPACK of 3 is quite different in NBA Live 07 and 08.

Wed Feb 13, 2008 10:29 am

I`m just fixing some numbers (recent trades and some mistakes I found...J. Moon etc.). Kareem Rush and S. Graham of the Pacers have a -1 as jersey numbers. What does this mean? Is it an error? I entered their real numbers...hope that`s ok.

Thu Feb 14, 2008 5:55 am

-1 indicates they're wearing the number 00, which is still incorrect for those players but it's a legitimate value nevertheless.
