Classic Teams '05 any interest?

Hey everyone..

After I finally release classic teams '07 i'm going to be re releasing the mod for '06 for Jao Sming'a project with the art from '07. I was thinking if i'm gonna do it for '06 again..why not try it for '05 with less teams. .. Let me know what you guys think..thanks

Well, with a classic teams 05, a lot of things can be converted over here. I'm already using some of the retro jerseys from Classic Teams 07 in my game, the headshapes hopefully can be converted, the stadiums generally work fine on this game. The roster will need a bit of work, but that's also possible.

So yeah, it would be great!

Quite a bit of stuff can be converted from CT 07, as it turns out. I've checked the .rar and:

Roster: Will need a bit of work to successfully convert over
Coaches: should be fine
Courts, Stadium: .bbd ebo doesn't work, meaning no special backboard textures. Wood textures and others should be okay.
Faces: Only headshapes need a conversion.
Jerseys: Can also be converted, the special jerseys with textures made by Dragon will be converted, others can use the original jersey .vivs, 2x or not.
Logos: I'm not sure about this...
Portraits, jersey previews, Stadium previews: All should be fine.

Just to say that this sounds great and I'm certainly interested.
I have already been tinkering around somewhat myself, taking rosters for 2005 and adding art from live 2005-2008. For some reason however, the 2008 legend cyberfaces don't work as they should.. They still look like created players. Anyways, I'm now adding retro courts and trying 2006 cyberfaces..
Of course, if this project were to go through, that'd be great

hmm the most time consuming part would be the headshapes..and maybe the cfs.......the headshape.ebo files need to be edited from 07

I do have 512x512 retro jersey textures that Dragon never released.....i know that 2x jerseys can be done in '06.....i forget about 05.

....Ill give a couple teams a try...and well see what happens.Try not to expect all 30 + teams included in the '07 mod...i just dont have the time...but if someone wants to try to convert them all..thats fine with me as long as everyone on the readme is credited.

05 have 2x jerseys available, all you need is the 512 buni and the 256x64 numbers in the same .fsh and you're done!

B Headshapes are easily convertible: in the 05 patching forum, second page, there was an easy tutorial on converting 07 B headshapes (i.e. jostockB.ebo) to 05. The others like (biwalton_D_headband.ebo) would either be the same for both games or harder, I'd think.

I tried to convert some stadiums....the past weekend with no luck...the game kept crashing...so im thinking maybe the top 4 teams ,courts, jerseys..using a default stadium to save time

You could use the original stadiums from 05 with retro "features". I'll try fiddling around with some conversions.

EDIT: I've got the Great Western Forum to work successfully with 05. Generic Lakers backboard though, and some parts look a bit blurry. Once I've got a conversion of Boston Garden done, I'll upload screenshots.

All right then. Well, the 1986-87 Boston Garden also works fine although the parquet looks a bit dark. Everything except for the backboards can be converted.

Well, lighting can be adjusted but you can't get as wide a variety of lighting in 05 compared to 07. The default lighting looks good though.

I can do some conversion stuff (stadiums, players, jerseys) and a lot of the stuff doesn't need to be converted anyway, just the roster someone else will need to convert.

I don't know, I was trying some cyberfaces for classic players myself (with the '92-'93 rosters) and used some cyberfaces from live 2006 and 2007. But I don't know, I changed everything correctly in the .dbf files (appearance, playerpkg etc..) but it seems that some faces still seem to be missing. Also, I noticed that in some 2006 and 2007 packs legend players had created cyberfaces, but these 'created' cyberfaces still looked rather generic...

The Boston Garden you've released on NBA Live 07/08 is working

I was wondering how this is coming along ? Is there already some artwork / roster editing that has been done ? Or is this mod dying...
Just asking 'cause I'd love to play with retro rosters, but not alot of patches are still being released for '05, let alone historical ones. Still, to me Live '05 is the last good NBA Live up to this date...
(Hope they don't screw up 2009)...

havent started lol.....classic teams 07 nba finals challenge is still in the final beta test stage...so once the 07 version is completed and released ill try it out for 05.

its just a matter of converting the art and dbf entries to '05....the dbf editing is what takes the longest.

ill telll u this every project ive previewed is released eventually...might take months but i usually complete everything i try. this one may take longer though...i cant see myself converting all 34 retro teams from 07 to 05..so maybe the top 5 teams...like tony huml did in '04.

hmm I guess this will be easier than i thought.....some of the classic teams players are already int he default file....awesome...

As long as someone can do the roster conversion, art conversion should be easy (mostly). Just tedious.

no prob jon ill do it.....only delaying it is my newborn son...needs alot of attention...so i can go through weeks without working on it.....i actually started to work on it yesterday....so all 7 of you guys who still play '05 will have a classic roster coming soon


most likely i wont be converting the retro logos.....just the teams itself jerseys and court. so basically you will have the 07 team logo displayed...
