Talk about NBA Live 2005 here.
Post a reply

I just joined and have a couple of questions...

Sun Jan 15, 2006 5:00 am

Hi! I have a few questions regarding the NBA Live games. (I currently own NBA Live 2003, 2004, and 2005, all for the PC.)

1) Are patches (such as up-to-date roster patches, face, shoe patches, etc.) available for the PC versions?

2) Does anybody know if Shane Battier wears adidas brand sneakers in NBA Live 2006? Thank you.

Welcome to the forums. :)

1) 99% of the patches in this site are made for the PC versions of NBA Live.
2) No. In the default roster, as well as in Andrew's one, Shane Battier wears generic shoes.

1) As Jona said, almost every patch is made for the PC version.
2) You can download and give him any shoe that you want, as long as it's been patched.
Lately he's been wearing the Adidas Superstar Structures, and 'master_sfincter__' has made those (get them here).
Now you could ad them to the game yourself using this tutorial. :)

If you can't get it to work, or wonder something else, feel free to ask. (y)

Thank you, Jona and AndreasDahl, for your replies. I appreciate it.
I will keep in mind the things that were said. Question though, if there were patches I wanted to download, once I download them how would I successfully implement them into the game(s) whether it be 2003, 2004, or 2005? Thanks!

Also, the Adidas Superstar Structures... Shane wears which ones, the predominently black ones with white, and then the predominently white with some black, correct? Or do they have gray in them? (I can't recall.)

It depends on the patch really.
If it's an .exe, it's most of the times just to run it and specify where you installed the game. If it's a .zip, it's usually has a read me file in it that tells you how and where to install it. If not, there are a few rules to follow, though that's overkill. Most of the times, it has a read me. If not, just put it in the \NBA LIVE 06\SGSM\ folder. And if it doesn't work, just PM the maker of that (or a similar) patch and ask.

Shane tends to rotate shoes from game to game, but I've seen him wear the Structures most lately. He uses Black-Grey for away games, and White-Navy for home games. (y)
By the way, next time you post right after making another post, just edit the first one instead.

Ok, thanks for the information, Andreas.
(And actually, I did think about editing my prior post... sorry I didn't.) :)

Andreas, if I want to try downloading various patches, there is no way that I can do it incorrectly so as to negatively affect the game and it's ability to function properly, is there? It want to be certain.

Well if the patch is corrupt, the game will crash when you try to play it, that's basically it; but you can of course just remove that patch and it will be back to normal.
And if any patch needs to overwrite any files, just be sure back up the files that it wants to overwrite just in case (if you accidentally overwrite an original file that you want back, all the files are still on your CD, so don't worry).

So with single files that you just dump in the SGSM\ folder there's no need to worry at all. But when you're overwriting/editing already existing files you should be a little careful (by backing up the files before installing and such).

By the way, if you’re insecure about installing a certain patch, feel free to write me a PM about it.

Thanks, Andreas. This all sounds a little intimidating/confusing to me, as I have never tried using a "patch" to modify anything. There are a few patches I would like to incorporate: Shane Battier's home and away style adidas Superstar Structure sneakers, Pau Gasol's bearded face patch, and also, can a 2006 roster update patch be put into Live 2005? Will it accuately update all players up until the date specified? :?: Thanks for your help.

Roster patches for 06 can't be used in 2005, there are slightly different forms in them, so they won't work. You'll have to use one for 2005 instead: http://www.nba-live.com/download/pafile ... egory&id=3

Pau's face patch is easy, just place the .fsh file in the SGSM\ folder and that's it. And if you don't like it, just remove the file.

The shoes is a little bit trickier, but the easiest way to do it is to find a pair of shoes that no other player wears, and replace them with the new ones. Like number 098 and 099 (Converse All-Stars), so here, download these two files (http://rapidshare.de/files/11310942/sh098.fsh.html and http://rapidshare.de/files/11310956/sh099.fsh.html) and place them in your SGSM\ folder. Then go in game and assign Shane to wear the Converse All-Stars. That's it.

I don't see an SGSM/ folder within Live 2005. Where do I look? Also, for assigning the adidas shoes, do I locate the Cons and then replace the Cons with Shane's Superstars? If so, where can I download these sneakers? I see them as url addresses, but am not sure where to actually download them from...

Sorry for the questions, this is new to me!

Oh, it's all for 2005? I'll just move this to 2005 Patching Issues then.

In 2005 it's not SGSM\, but render\ (so \NBA Live 2005\render\). Still, Pau's face will work if you put it in the render folder. And those shoes i linked to are the wrong number, but will work as well. They just won't replace the Con's, but another shoe (no idea which ones). I don't have the CD for NBA Live 2005 here at the moment, so I can't check what number you should name them, so I'll get back to you on that.
You download them from the link I gave you by clicking the link on the bottom that is called 'Free'. If it's too confusing, i can just email them to you...

Yes, sorry, it is for 2005. Most of this is a bit too confusing to me, having never attempted to try these things before. I almost wish somebody could just put them into the game for me! :)

All you got to do is place the .fsh file for Pau's face in the render folder; and I'll send you the shoe files in a day or two so you just have to put them in the render folder.

You could try to do Pau now and see if it works for you (y) Could you give me a link to the patch so I can see which one it is?

Thu Jan 19, 2006 7:01 am

Which patch are you looking for?
Also, I found a bunch of adidas and adidas Superstar shoes within Live 2005, actually, but none were listed as the "Structure" kind.

Use Dolphin Live, it's available at nbalive.org, they have an entire forum devoted to it.
