Q: Contract Extension; Stats History; Possible Cheats...

Wed Sep 14, 2005 2:09 pm

My first post... this is a cool forum...

I'm just wondering if it's possible to extend a player's contract before it terminates? I've got literally 10 guys who I have to re-sign next season and it's usual for guys on minimum to ask for 4-5 year deals for ten times what they were on before...

Also, In previous Lives you could see the past stats of players, and therefore able to check how much and at what rate they're improving/worsening each season. Has this been taken out of 2005?

Also has anyone noticed you can edit a player's position, and consequently you'll be able to make fantastic trades? I.e. Say I only have an excess point guard I have available to trade, and I need a center. Miami have an ideal center, but are only interested in acquiring a PF. Normally my PG for their C won't be accepted, but if I edit the PG's information to PF, the trade has a much better chance of beaing accepted, ofcourse if all other conditions have been met.

Also you can push trades through by signing crap free agents and trading three of them away for a good player, as long as they have atleast two free spots on their roster obviously... although you probably knew this already.

Unfortunately it isn't possible to negotiate extensions before the contract is up, as teams do in real life. Perhaps we'll see it one day, along with the MLE and other salary cap details.

2005 doesn't really have any development graphs/charts, if that's what you mean.

And yes, those cheats/workarounds have been in the game since the days of NBA Live 2000/NBA Live 2001. Cheap strategies, though they are undeniably effective. ;) I personally avoid using them, though sometimes I'll switch primary and secondary positions to make a deal more appealing. I don't consider that cheating, especially if it's likely the player you're trading away would shift over to their secondary position should the trade happen in real life.

when i want some crappy player traded - and they arent wanted by the other team, i play a 5min quarter game on rookie and get him like 30 steals and 200 points. THEN they want him

mwahahaha
