I had the same problem once, the cpu put David Wesley at SF!

I haven't seen that happen before, though the CPU does make strange decisions reordering rosters on secondary positions at times. Generally rosters are automatically reordered according to overall rating, but sometimes the CPU will switch two players of the same position, taking the better player out of the starting five or assembling an inferior lineup based on a couple of players' secondary positions.
