"short range shooting", "medium range shooting", "long range shooting" sliders... what is this?

is this the shooting percentage of short range/med range/long range shots? so if i set "long range shooting" to 39, then the short-range shooting percentage will average out to 39%?

or is this the odds of the cpu players' shot being a certain-type of shot? meaning if the "long range shooting" is set to 39, then 39% of the shots will be long-range?

i see slider suggestions of 50 for both short-range and long-range shooting. but if that's shooting %, that doesn't seem realistic b/c short-range shots are higher-percentage shots, and long-range shots are usually lower-percentage (35-45%).

anyone know what these sliders represent?

Short/Medium/Long range shooting is how good you are at it pretty much. The higher setting the easier it will be for you to hit them. It doesn’t have a direct connection to the shooting percentage, but in a way I suppose it does. Having it set to 100 wont make you hit 100%, just more; and if you set it to 0, that doesn't mean you wont hit any, just less...

How many a player hits is still a product of that players shooting skills. A good player will shoot like 30-35% maybe at the sliders set at 50, but if you play with him a have the sliders at 100, you'll probably get up to 65-75%, and if the slider is at 0, then you’ll probably be at 5% or something like that. I’m just guessing here...

ok, so then it should follow that short-range shooting should be set higher than long-range shooting.

eg, short-range set at 65, long-range set at 50, and medium-range somewhere in-between...since it is generally easier for players to hit short jumpers then to hit long-range shots...no?

but all the slider discussions have short-range, med-range and long-range set at the same (usu 50)...which doesn't make sense... :?:

Let's look at it like this: the game is programed like the further away you shoot, the less shots you will make, that's rather obvious.
If you shoot close to the hoop with the slider set at 50 you will make, let's say, 70%-
If you shoot at medium range with the slider set at 50 you will make, let's say, 50%-
If you shoot far away from the hoop with the slider set at 50 you will make, let's say, 30%-
