alternate jersey guide

Fri Jul 22, 2005 7:10 am

Okay.....if you want to make alternate jerseys, this is how I did it........

First, figure out which jersey you want to edit. For an example, I'll pick the Washington Wizards. Their away jersey is blue with white lettering.

Image

Go to the sgsm/uniforms folder and copy washaway.viv to a new folder. Next, open bigGUI and open jerseys.viv in the fe folder of NBA Live 2005. Look for jerseys~wa~wa_away.big. Extract it to the folder you made. When you have finished, open that big file and extract all of the files to the new folder (wa_away.apt, wa_away.const, wa_away.ebo, and wa_away.fsh). Then open washaway.viv with bigGUI and extract all of those files to the folder (washaway.fsh, washaway_num.fsh, washawayr.fsh, washaway_size.fsh, washaway_nreg.fsh).

When you have extracted those files, use FshX to open washaway.fsh. Go to Texture>Double Resolution to expand the image, then select Texture>Export to save the image as a bitmap. Now you have the blueprint of the jersey like posted above.

Using bassman58's base templates (with textures made by frAn) on Adobe photoshop, go to the base color uniform layer. change the color to 80% gray. now do the same for the base color crotch layer. Open the bitmap you extracted for that blue wizards jersey. Use magic wand to select the middle of the jersey (where it is blue and says DC on the bottom). Copy that and paste it to the base template (make sure that layer is above base color uniform or else you won't see it). You can do that or copy the portion where the Wizards logo is and paste that. Save that as a .png image in the new folder (ex. 1.png). For better in-game pictures, delete the wizards lettering and the nba logos......then save as 2.png in the new folder.

Next, I'll open 2.png to add in designs from the internet (http://www.sportslogos.net/league.php?l_id=6 is the best for NBA logos). By editing the wizards logo there and adding in the NBA logos, I end up with this........

or this......

When you're done, save it. Remember the file name b/c you'll need it later.

I'm gonna skip how to add in jersey previews for now, one tutorial is stickied on this board....So let's get to adding in this jersey.

Remember those files you extracted? you'll need to rename them. For this case, replace away with ser2 (washaway.fsh to washser2.fsh). Now open washser2.fsh with FshX and replace the blue jersey with the black one made (Texture>Import, then select 2.png. You should see the jersey made by photoshop). Now save that......Open washser2.viv with bigGUI and delete the files in there (they have away as a suffix). Import the files you renamed (washser2.fsh, washser2_nreg.fsh, washser2_num.fsh, washser2_size.fsh, and washser2r.fsh) then press rebuild until the numbers in the offset column stop changing. Close that.

Now you should copy washser2.viv from the new folder and paste it to the sgsm/uniforms folder. (I didn't say how to do jersey previews, but it is required for you to add one in the jerseys.viv file in the fe folder for it to work. Make sure the name of that preview file is jerseys~wa~wa~ser2.big)

Almost done.......now it's time for .dbf editing. Using Microsoft Excel, open the teamgear.dbf file in the saves folder where the rosters are (My Documents/NBA Live 2005/saves). You will see all the teams with the types of rosters they have. Since this alternate jersey was made from the away jersey of the Wizards, we need the code for the away jersey. Scroll down until you see row 70. That is the data for the Wizards' away jersey. Copy that, and add a new column on the bottom of the page to paste that data.

Now you want to change a few things. First, change the ID number (column C) to a number not used already, like 450. Then for JERSEY (column D), put a number 2 (alternate). For SHPNAME (col. G) put in ser2,. Everything else should be the same. To compare, here is the data for the away jersey and the alternate jersey:

FALSE 69 29 1 FALSE FALSE away 2004-05 2 1315346 16119285 3026478 136 1 0 0 1

FALSE 423 29 2 FALSE FALSE ser2 2004-05 2 1315346 16119285 3026478 136 1 0 0 1

Notice the similarities in those columns....no need to change em

Save the file as .dbf AND in another folder, save as .xls......Now with all that done, you can play the game. As long as you've added a preview that says 2004-05 Alternate in the fe folder, you should be able to continue....when it loads, you will see that the jersey would look like this.....

That's that......If necessary, I will add in how to go through the jersey preview process.....It's just that I don't like making previews that much.....If there is any questions on how to do anything listed, give a reply.....

Good luck editing
