Making the switch from All-Star to Superstar

Postby air on Wed Jul 20, 2005 5:48 pm

So how do you do this? Any tricks?

I was able to play quite well on All-Star and switched to Superstar and all of a sudden I'm being destroyed by the CPU. I figured if I play, play and play some more I'll make it but I want to start a dynasty soon so I need some tips.

My biggest problems are not being able to post up as easily and losing a lot of defensive rebounds. How do you win games at superstar? Do you execute a lot of plays.... or what?

You've got to play a really, really good game. The CPU does tend to "cheat" a bit, you might want to make some slider adjustments to compensate for that a bit until it starts becoming too easy again.

yea, i play on superstar and when i started my sliders were alot different to how they are now. And as Andrew said the CPU does cheat a bit on superstar mode so the key to winning is DEFENCE. Youve gotta be able to stop them coz there'll be times in the game where you'll miss 5 lay-ups in a row.

The key for me on offence is to use pick-n-roll religiously, can take upto 5 in a row to shake your defender or get your big guy open when he rolls to the hoop.

Tips on defence:

Easiest way to get steals is to go for it as their big guy catches the lob pass into the post.

Dont get too aggressive when going for blocks, i like to move back under the hoop and let them go for dunks (i find there easier to block than jump shots)

Tips on offence:

Try not to run through guys coz it wont work, gotta run around.

Dont always try and dunk on people, especially when going baseline because the CPU alters your shot much easier and youll miss or it'll go out of bounds off thye backboard.

i too was beaten pretty badly by the computer when i changed from all star to superstar but i got the hang of it after playing about 10 games, of course every once in a while i get crushed down again but i am used to it now and, the computer doesn`t cheat a little he cheats a lot, especially if you don`t modify the sliders.
