I've been looking around this board for a while, and from what I can tell this has only been discussed somewhat. After finding some videos of MM05, which I have not played, and seeing the Floor General system and the way the plays are run on that game, I need definitive answers.
Let me start out by telling you what I have done. I play on PS 2, and I use the Pistons, as they are the best team in the NBA plain and simple. After wasting an hour and a half going through all the plays, trying to decipher what my computer teammates where trying to accomplish with their slow, rambling moves, I came up with these 3 quick plays to run along with the basic Pick & Roll:
Box 8- I use it to get Prince in the low post. It actually does work, since all he's got to do is walk. The computer can at least do that.
1-4 High 6- I like to claim this is the Rip/Reggie Curl of the baseline screen, but in reality it is Chauncey standing there waiting for Rip to plod along the baseline at a snail's pace and receive the ball for a completely contested shot.
Double High 4- I run this in a pitiful attempt to get Sheed open for a 3. The computer finds a way to screw up when I use the Off-Ball control to set a pick for Chauncey and pop out at the top of the arc, so this is what I do. I call the play and drive in the paint, hoping Sheed will pop out. Sometimes he does and it works, but sometimes...Big Ben pops out. Now...on Rookie I actuallyed drained a 3 with Ben, but that is not exactly what I'm going for.
So anyway...am I missing something? Is this the way the halfcourt works on Live? The computer just kind of stumbling around like drunks until I get frustrated and Pick & Roll the computer to death with Chauncey and Sheed?
Please tell me I'm just screwed up because they no longer have play diagrams and I'm just missing certain entry passes or lacking an understanding of the plays. Tell me the computer will set screens for other computer teammates like in MM 05.
Or tell me I'm doomed to use the Pick & Roll and Post Up until '06 comes out. Whatever. I'm just proud I found a way for Prince to get to the low post without me having to manual dribble him or Off-Ball him there. His quickness and length dominate down there.
