PAVEL PODKOLZIN AND MARIO KASUN

Sat Jun 18, 2005 8:39 pm

Ok,I got a question,is Pavel Podkolzin really that bad of a player that he has 31 overall ratings in NBA Live?I mean, atleast he can rebound,he is 7'5",he just has to put his arms in the air and grab the ball :x
And another thing, his scouting reports said that he can shoot the ball, why is his FG 33?I don't understand why Dallas doesn't play him,he is atleast good as Bradley.
HoopsHype.com wrote:Strengths: Extremely big... Very strong... Very good mobility for his size... Will grab some rebounds.
Weaknesses: Still learning to play... A turnover waiting to happen... Lack of playing time hurts his development.

The book on Podkolzine based on his Grizzlies workout is this: He shoots well from 15 feet and finishes strong around the basket. He's also slow running full court, and his footwork is awkward.

About Mario Kasun,he was a good center in Europe,I think he deserves more than 3something ratings. The fact that he didn't have the chance to show his full potencial don't mean he hasn't got any.

Please,tell me what you think.

Please understand that ratings also govern simulated performance as well as on-court play. As of yet, neither of those players have really done anything in the NBA to warrant high ratings.

I understand that,Andrew, but if you want them to be on the injured list, you don't have to make them to be shitty players, they could be around 43 and still not play at all during the season.Atleast their good sides should be boosted up,this way it looks like Kasun doesn't know how to play basketball. It ain't his fault he has shitty coach that don't give him a chance to prove his worth.

Sun Jun 19, 2005 5:11 pm

If they're on the injured list in real life, I placed them on the IR in the rosters as well. That has nothing to do with their ratings.

Sun Jun 19, 2005 5:18 pm

I just hope coach Hill gives Kasun a chance to prove himself. That is all I have to say,I think he deserves it.

And if you boost their ratings a bit,I don't think it would make a whole lot of difference, this way they look like shitty players, and that makes me sad.

I don't just boost ratings to increase the overall or for the sake of boosting ratings. If in the future changes are in order, I'll gladly change them. For now, major changes aren't warranted.

Sun Jun 19, 2005 9:33 pm

I am not saying that you should make them next Shaquille O'Neal, just to make thier ratings fair.Podkolzin has originally 46 overall ratings, now that's fair.

Mon Jun 20, 2005 11:28 am

I tend to agree, ratings that low reflect someone that shouldn't even be in the NBA...

Mon Jun 20, 2005 2:24 pm

I'll consider it, but like I said I don't just boost ratings to make the overall better.

I was watching a Magic game a while ago - this season - and Mario Kasun came on for 5 mins in the second half and got 3 straigh baskets one was a tough layup and he got the 3 pt play(dunno bout the FT) one was from posting up and getting close for an easy shot and one was a dunk. He also grabbed a couple of boards a got a block, but that was all he played for the game.
I think this game isnt bad. He would be good in Atlanta as they dont have a good center

Mon Jun 20, 2005 8:53 pm

Yeah,he has some skills, but with the ratings he has in Live,he will never play a game.

Yap, Kasun should be much better!

He is a great Player, but he got Problems with his Mind (sometimes he just dont want to practice)

Sat Jul 02, 2005 11:59 pm

I disagree that Mario Kasun is a great player in the NBA.

I didnt said that!

In Europe he was an All-Star Player

but in NBA .... hes not good... but his ratings should be better :D i think 48 or something

Sun Jul 03, 2005 12:14 am

As you didn't specify Europe, I assumed you were talking about his NBA production. And once again, I don't just boost ratings to make the overall better.

Kasun only spent limited time on court, but there are a few aspects where his ratings don't seem to reflect his performance correctly:
- Strength: Kasun is a very physical player and was able to bang with the big boys, therefore his strengh rating should be higher than 62 (I'd say mid seventies)
- Rebounding: If there's anything Kasun does well its rebounding. He grabs almost 3 rebs in under 8 minutes of play, more than 40% of those on offense and leads the league in orpg per 48mins (#16 in drpg) , so his rating for offensive rebounding is definitely way to low at 45 (70 would be my proposal)
- Shotblocking: due to limited pt it's hard to tell how good he really is in that department, but those 0.29 blocks in 7.9 minutes look better than 34 to me (I'd go for 50)

As far as Podkolzin is concerned I can't make a judgement as he only spent played 10 minutes during last season.

@Andrew
Kasun's rating seem to be mixed up in the new roster patch
Strength: altered according to my suggestion
Offensive Rebounding: set to the value I suggested for shotblocking
Shotblocking: unchanged
