Which stats are you more interested in?

Postby drummond on Wed Jun 15, 2005 11:18 pm

I wonder which stats you guys think more important in this game(not in the real NBA). I guess it depends on the way you play your game.

5 stats that I usually pay more attention to are:
(which means I would not hegitate to sign or trade for a player if the following stats are high:)

1. FG(with consideration to range)
2. Speed
3. 3pt
4. Steal
5. Block(or height)
(Preferences can be different within this depending on the position of a player - ex. a center with high block stats is better than a center with high stats on 3pt)

5 stats that I usually care less about are:
(which means I would think twice before I sign or trade for a player even if the following stats are high:)

1. Fatigue
2. Hardiness
3. Dunk
4. Strength
5. Offensive Awareness

I think most of you in this forum already have mastered all aspects of the game, the stats may not be a big issue to you but I am just curious which stats would you prefer to be higher.

I would appreciate if you can share your opinions..

Hmm... usually speed/quickness first and foremost, coming off screens you can get to the hoop with anyone if they're quick enough. Then probably height for the position... I don't really pay much attention to FG ratings, I've found that you can have a guy with reasonably low FG ratings who'll hit his shots so that's not a problem.

3pt, just because I like to shoot the 3 and try to get open 3s very often. Strength, because if your big guy got a lot of it he is doubleteamed more often and can pass it out to my shooters
I also pay a lot attention on height, less on blocks.
I got that rookie pg who got 3pt 92 the first season, now in the second 95 but his fg is only like 68 or so. That is somehow akward imho but he really drops a lot from the perimeter :D

I usually pay most attention the overall rating, then eventually 3pt shooting, speed, ballhandling and that's pretty much it.

since im a fast break type of player, speed, rebounding, steal and block rating matter to me the most, then 3pt and dunk

my prefs

Postby Toaster on Sat Jun 18, 2005 12:47 am

I try to play a slow defensive game with emphasis on outside scoring

so I'd probably say

1. d. awareness
2. fg
3. height ( i know it is not a rating, but still...)
4. pass
5. o . aware

also, i'd prefer a low block rating to keep it real
less important
1.hardiness
2.dunk
3.jump
4.fatigue
5.3 pt

I like Speed on the Guards, SF
Strength and FG, Inside Scoring PF,C
Dribble for all of them
Steal for PG

i dont care about hardiness, stamina, awareness or stuff liek that

Most Important to me are

height (i like tall guards who can easily defend and block smaller ones)
steal (or a small guard who can go around stealing from everyone)
speed or quickness (i hate slow people)
3pt (so i can kick it out when i penetrate with pg)
block

i would have to say speed and quickness for guards. coz alot of times when i'm using guards with low rating of speed, i can't have a good fast break. for centers i like inside scoring and strength. often times when i use centers with low strength they can'y backdown his defender. and lastly i like the def & of rebounding for my forwards. rebounding is a must in every game.

My preferences by position:

PG: spd, dribble, (3pt)
SG: stl, spd, dribble
SF: 3pt, height
PF: (fg)
C: height, blk

* fg for every position.

I think, i may be wrong, that offencive awareness helps a player catch passes on the run rather than stopping and waiting, is that true?

Anyways...

For my PF's and C's:

1. BLOCK because i like to say "dont bring it in my house again" ;)
2. STR because i like backing down in the post with my bigs
3. FT as a result of liking to back ppl down and dunk of their head i often end up at the line.
4.DEF AWR because their awareness rating i think gives you more room for error on block attempts + theyll go to the right spot when my wing guys get beat.
5. JUMP because they need to get up for jump shot blocks, dunk attempts this matters less..

For my SG's and SF's

1. FG/3PT/FT I tend to mix between my starting 2 and 3 guys, 1 will be strong on 3's, the other on FG's, both must be 68+ on FT's
2. SPEED/QUICK I play fast break ball alot.
3. DRIBBLE players with better dribble can be isolated on offence much easier and blow by defenders with some fancy dribble work.(i know ive got 5 stats already, but i consider 6)

For my PG's
1. STEAL because i hassle constantly with my PG on defence.
2. FATIGUE because my PG does the most work
3. FT because PG's cop all the fouls late in close games.
4. QUICK because i run alot of pick and rolls and pull alot of spin moves to create oppertunities.
5. DRIBBLE coz i hate having the ball stolen off me.

Thats about right for my style of play.
