How to run plays with the Gravis Gamepad pro

Hey all, sorry for the basic question, but I just got a gravis gamepad pro and cant figure out how to run plays. When assigning "playcalling" to the select button, the only thing that happens when I press select is a that timeout is called on offense, and an intentional foul on defense. What am I doing wrong? Thanks!

there is a bug with that controller
i use the gravis eliminator rumble and i cant call many plays either
i can only call 1 play on offense and defense and if i dont set them before the game against the cpu
it will use 2 plays by default,basket cut for offense and full court press on defense
i think its there drivers,gravis hasnt updated there drivers set since like early 2002
