Some trades

Tue May 10, 2005 10:54 am

Hi all. I´m starting a Bucks dynasty and i want some players in my team. What do you think about this trades?:
Michael Redd for Manu Ginóbili
Eric Strickland for Andrés Nocioni
Desmond Mason and Recce Gaines for Shane Battier and Jake Tsakalidis
Joe Smith for Chris Andersen
I need opinions about realism, fair, unfair... anything you want.
Thanks

Personally I wouldn't make those trades as it will leave your team a little unbalanced. They're fair enough for the CPU, but I don't think they'd be in your best interests.

The Redd for Manu one is either way, I don't really have a prefence, so I guess with whichever one you like. I'm not a huge fan of Nocioni, not a great shooter for a Small Forward and a bit short for the 4, and Strickland can catch fire sometimes and hit shot after shot. I personally like Desmond Mason, but I do like Battier too, although I'd stick with Mason. In my dynasty also, I traded for Andersen, and found out that he's easy to get - and rightly so. Although many are attracted to him because of his dunking and blocking, I've found out he isn't all that he's hyped up to be, but I guess Smith isn't much better.

Bucks dynasty is a great idea.

But i think you should shop more and get a little more for your core guys, Desmond and Michael Redd, or just keep them.

Manu is always very helpful, if you have default rosters SAS will accept Mason & TJ Ford for Manu & Massenburg. He can easily play either SF or PG w/ Redd as SG.

Redd deal: I wouldn't do it personally, as I like to keep franchise players around if possible....but depends on how you play Live as to who would suit you more, but I feel you could get a little more in this one....

Strickland deal: I'd do it, but then again, I like Nocioni and think Strickland is over-rated....Strickland is good in Live, but I'd do that deal....seems fair....

Mason deal: Don't do it under any costs....find a way to get him in your starting lineup at SF

Smith deal: As much as we all luv the Bird Man, I just couldn't do it....I'd prefer to start Smith than Andersen....you can get better for Smith IMHO....

but as Andrew said, all the deals seem pretty fair, but they probably help the CPU more than you....don't gut the identity of the team if you can

Right, thanks for all your answers. I have a doubt, what do u consider a real trade? Cuz since T-Mac, Webber,... trades, i think in NBA everyone is crazy... I won´t make all the trades i said, because it would mean changing almost all the starters, and thats not very real, but Gadzuric-Andersen-Battier-Ginóbili-Ford looks awesome.
The X, i´m sorry but i dont like Mason pretty much.
tc, i think Nocioni can rebound a lot, he´s from Argentina, so he is very brave :D
Andrew, what do you mean about unbalanced? The perimeter is fine with Battier and Nocioni, Gadzuric and Andersen can rebound a lot, so what do u mean?
Thanks all!

if you don't like Mason, you don't like Mason....he's a strong defensive player, but so is Battier I guess....

backcourt looks good, however I think the lineup looks a little weak up front....glad you are bringing in Nocioni to shore up the fronline though as I like what he can bring to the table, and who doesn't like the Argentinians these days.....

yeah, I wouldn't do some of them, but as you said, crazy trades occur everyday....I would factor in the salary aspects to the trades as well when considering them if you haven't already done the same....

meaning Redd is gonna be a free agent and might not resign, but Manu is locked up long-term so that is not a bad trade at all....Joe Smith has had a nightmare career so it might not be a bad thing to get rid of him....maybe you could get a 2nd Round pick as well in the deal from the Hornets, although I guess they are taking a contract back so it works....deal Strickland and get his contract off the books....

let us all know how your cap space will look for the future

good luck using Bucks....glad some people are using them (Y)

The salary cap matches in all cases except Smith-Andersen. You are right, The X, i´ll try to accquire a first or second round pick from Hornets (don´t forget that Joe Smith was the first round pick of his draft :? ). And about Mason... he´s a funky man, but anything else for me, Shane defends and shoot much more better, and i have heard that he trains bery well :D

I´m with the Nocioni trade.

well actually i cant say if its realistic or not (no one can say till it might happen) but i think its quite good for your team.

dont trade redd hes important and your only allstar ( i know Manu is one too but redd roxx :P)he has much more shooting abilities and is able to put himself in a good position)

Hey, jrsmith23, I'm also starting up a Bucks franchise (for Live 2000) and I've been breaking down the roster, too, thinking about trades. Here's my opinion on your possible moves:

Michael Redd for Manu Ginóbili
(Y) Great deal, Manu can do it all. Tough to match up salaries, though- Redd's still on his rookie contract and Manu just got a big deal. You'd have to make it a blockbuster to make it work.

Eric Strickland for Andrés Nocioni
(N) Too unrealistic. Nocioni is waaaay better than Erick Strickland- Chicago would absolutely never do it.

Desmond Mason and Recce Gaines for Shane Battier and Jake Tsakalidis
(N) If I were you, I wouldn't touch Desmond Mason (I'm not going to). He's a very good defender, is strong, has a great work ethic, and overall is a big-time competitor. Not even to mention his rim-rocking jams. The only reason you might want to deal him is if you're looking for a 3-point shooter- Mason just doesn't do 3s (he was only 1-for-8 the whole 2004-05 season!)

Joe Smith for Chris Andersen
(N) Though Chris is more exciting, Joe Smith is a much better player. If you trade Smith, you should get a much better player than Andersen in return (unless you also get a first round pick in return or something)

Well good luck with your dynasty.

Hi bullsfan009. I agree with you in all, (Chicago wouldn´t trade Nocioni for Strickland) except in Mason and Smith trades. I think Battier is better defender than Mason, and also he can shoot 3pters. About Smith and his 14M... dunno, i love the Birdman. He doesn´t earn so much money and he can do awesome for the team.
Good luck also for your dynasty and thanks for the answers!

Hi jrsmith23,here's my opinion on your trades:

Michael Redd for Manu Ginóbili
I think you did a great job,the latter is more promising.Menu is better at defense and his shooting is not bad.

Eric Strickland for Andrés Nocioni
It's hard to say.Nocioni has nothing very outstanding, while Eric Strickland is good at shooting and steal. But Nocioni is far younger,he's still in his rookie year, let him get some training and perhaps he'll be better.

Desmond Mason and Recce Gaines for Shane Battier and Jake Tsakalidis
I'd prefer use Shane Battier rather than Desmond Mason,Battier is much better at shooting and defense while Mason is only a dunker I think. But Jake Tsakalidis is not a good choice at all,he's so poor overall(40)and asks so much(2.9M)!!! You should get R.Humphery I think,he costs less.

Joe Smith for Chris Andersen
That makes me feel puzzled  .The only explanation in my opinion for this trade is that you wanna clear up some salary cap space, isnt it?

Thu May 12, 2005 12:31 am

Hi Ming-mac. I can´t get Humphrey cuz the salary cap don´t match, that´s because i get Tsakalidis. And about Smith and Andersen, also for clearing up some salary cap, i think Andersen is stronger and a funky man. Also, he´s younger and very very cheap. Birdman rulezzz!!!
Thanks for the answer.

Oh,you're right, sorry for my carelessness. You should keep up clearing up cap space, let such guys as Tsakalidis and Booth go. 8-)
