Opinions about a trade

Wed Apr 27, 2005 10:02 pm

I am in my second season with the Nets and this is my roster:

Starting 5:

C:Nenad Krstic(67)-I trained him through the first season and he developed into a great allround center.
PF:Nene(64)-got him in a trade-Mercer,Voughn and first round pick for Nene.I was looking for a solid pf and I got more than I expected, the man can play.
SF:Richard jefferson(82)-No comment,a great player.
SG:Vince Carter(87)-Top scorer
PG:JASON KIDD(87)-defensive player of the year and finals mvp.

Bench players:

Rodney Buford(59)-SG
Kyle Korver(59)-SF-got him in off-season for Planinic and second round pick
DeJuan Toure(57)-first round 6'2'' rookie,good offence,terrible defence,but good offence Very Happy
Jason Collins(55)-PF
Jerome James(52)-C-signed as a free agent in the off-season,great blocker, because of his pressence I can afford to have defencive slip-ups from Toure, cause Jerome is just waiting to block Cool
Jennaro Pargo(51)-PG-bench warmer
Vladimir Stepania(51)-C-Just in case my first two centers get into foul trouble.

IR:

Brian Scalabrine(50)-PF-the man can't block, thats the only reason he is not on the bench.

So,the question is what do you think about my team?
P.S. I won the title.Beat the Kings in 4 games in 7-7-7-7 sistem.Season record 49-33.

You winning the title is all about easy gameplay settings - not about your GM skills... that very same roster, if controlled by the CPU, would have trouble qualifying for the playoffs... I would say your bench is extremely weak if none existant.

But if your having fun, and you seem to be, then its all good.

To be honest I did play on all-star difficulty, and I used sliders from this site,I just set my game speed higher cause under 80 is just to slow, but I am playing this season on superstar and currently have 4-1 score.I am shooting around 40 % from the field and managed to win this 4 by few points. It is much harder than in last years game on superstar.

Yeah, New Jersey has a good starting 5, but a disgusting bench. [Plug: Click my sig image for more!]

Futzy,do you have any suggestions for my bench? I am quite pleased with their performance so far. I have played 4 more games and won all of them.Superstar level,6 minutes quarters.

Well, I traded away some of the bad players. I got Telfair, who's a very good player on my team. Also, I haven't done it, but try pickign someone up from free agency.

Cheers! :D

I'am thinking about trading Buford and pargo for a SG who can hit threes, any suggestions?

indeed a weak bench. But at least you have Korver, every loves Korver! You might need a new center for the starting 5 or for the bench. I've never played James, but from his ratings, i think you can do better. Krstic is good to have but you can make him the bench and get a center in the 60's or something. I have Dalembert on my dynasty, and i get 10+ rebounds every game. He's scoring is another matter. Very realistic team though, good to see people with these kinds of teams than those who has 10 all stars on their team....

I wrote the ratings behind every player,as you can read, I trained Krstic up to 67,in my last game, against houston,he had a triple double,10 points,11 rebs and 10 blocks(my blocking slider is set to 10).Jis block rating is around 75. I know that might seem unrealistic, but I played all 82 games in my first season and used all my dynasty points to train him,so he is deffinetely starting,as for james,I use him just for rebs and blocks,so he is god enough for his role.It just agrevates me that Buford is to inconsistent.I'll proboble trade him, just don't know for who.

Do a 3 for 1 trade

I simulated the season to test your theory and you won't beleave it,but they ended up with 53 wins outta 82 games,go figure,I guess my team ain't that bed,and one more thing,I am playing this season on superstar and have 9-2 score,so don't tell me that I can't play the game, man. :x

He wasn't saying that you can't play the game... I certainly suck at it, but it really doesn't matter. He was just saying that you have the sliders set for too easy if you can win all those games...

You should tighten up the sliders to get a more difficult game... Harder games are always more fun than those seventh back-to-back blow out victories...

Fri Apr 29, 2005 11:22 pm

My appologise to Newjersey if I offended you... far from it was to offend you. But still learning to take criticism like a man, not like a kid, is part of growing up. One should only post if they are open to criticism. But Metsis is 100% right. Andrew's sliders are Andrew's sliders... not necessarely yours or mine.

Listen, on paper my team is better than yours (rating wise). Yet I had a 8-21, 10-19, and 12-17 season. This year I'm 8-6 but if I dont win with a team thats probably better than all other teams (in my dynasty - rating wise)... than my ego will take a shot... yet I'm having so much fun cause its a challenge...

My point was not to offend you, my point was that personaly (and to most people) winning every game and winning the championship in first year is both predictable and boring... For me, those three losing seasons were so challenging in every game... I had a blast! But like I said in the first post, "But if your having fun, and you seem to be, then its all good."

Have fun my friend. (Y) Its just a game.

I wasn't offended, but I play this nba series since '98 and played several seasons in every game so when someone says that I am winning cause I'm using easy settings...I did react like a kid, sorry man.Let's leave it at that, anyway I just lost to Boston, Carter 1-27 from the field,do you think I'm forcing him to much?I just can't figure out his shooting style, one game I get 50% from him,and the other 05%.It really agrevates me.

Sun May 01, 2005 4:26 am

just dunk all the way with carter, always works

Sun May 01, 2005 2:36 pm

Can I search for help on this topic or must open a new?!
It's same team - New Jersey Nets. Playing with NLSC patch, 29 games, 5 min quarter, 16's games played [allstar - 13-3, next game I'm going to play on superstar level for sho  ] and lookin' for some trade... I need a PF possition better then Collins [he is a good player but not for me]. Can somebody help me, what can I do?

Sun May 01, 2005 5:20 pm

I traded for Nene in the offseason, and it only took Mercer,Nachbar and Voughn. If you are looking for a strong PF that can score, than I recommend him,his salary is low and is the total package,in my opinion.

Sun May 01, 2005 10:38 pm

Look into the draft for good to excellent potential PFs rated in the expected top 10. Then after the draft, trade for one of them. They will have a rating of 55 to 65 and will grow by about 3 to 5 overall rating per season without further training. My first overall pick jump from 71 to 77 from his 2nd to his 3rd season.

Consider this a in-draft trade, or pre-draft trade, like chicago did to get Luol Deng from Phoenix and orlando did to get Jamar Nelson from Denver. Only its a post-draft trade since you can't do it in Live 2005. Personaly, I dont do those trades cause I'm usually in the lottery almost every year so I just draft the guy I just described.

Cheap, young, and good potential to become a star. A great project on your team!

Another option for you might be Fortson who has over 90 OReb and DRrb ratings and can dunk a ball well in the game. He becomes a free agent at end of season 1 (or 2, dont remember) so you could trade for him (or wait for him if you have cap space).

Mon May 02, 2005 12:50 am

that cap space is one of the problem!!!
Nene is a good [I think], or McDyes, or Camby...
I usually play with first 5 and somethimes pick anyone player from bench [when the results is more then 15 for me]. Maybe the bench player must "show himself" in tha game if they wanna go in trade with something combinations

Tue May 03, 2005 10:50 pm

I've just traded Kidd,Collins and J.R. Bremer for Heinrich,Antonio Davis and Chandler.Opinions?

Wed May 04, 2005 9:36 pm

Hmmm Antonio will probably retire at the end of the season, if that matters to you

Wed May 04, 2005 10:43 pm

I would have kept Kidd no matter what.
