Trade Help!!

Can anybody help me find a way to trade Jalen Rose?? His contract is 15.69M and I'm looking for a SF that's cheaper... but like almost all the teams are over the cap (negative) and I can't get any trades done. I have no clue how to free up salary cap. Some players I want to get rid of too:

Lamond Murray (58 - 5.25M)
Alvin Williams (54 - 6.30M)
C. Weatherspoon (54 - 6.35M)

Oh and I'm in my second season right now. I'm in the off-season, during the training stretch. Any suggestions could help a lot, thanks!

Since I'm in my 2nd season, his contract is 8.16M. Oh and I forgot to mention, Jalen Rose has a rating of 77 after the rerate. Also, I couldn't draft anyone because I was over the cap... which was very annoying. I was only under 9.36M!

well my advice is waive those burden players. pick some one cheaper at the free agents. thats what i did in my rockets. i end up with a strong lineup after one season of struggle:

How do I waive them? If I let them go, won't I still have to pay their contract? And therefore, I'll still be over the cap...

You could not draft anyone because you were over the cap?!? Hum, I doubt it. If you could not draft anyone, it must be because you had no roster spot available. I am pretty much always over the cap... I draft and I also sign players at minimum contract.

The way to clear cap space is by trading contracts for expiring contracts.

i.e. If Rose has 2 years left at $15M, and you trade him for someone who has 1 year left, you will clear the contract size 1 year sooner... so your salary will go from 50 to 35 million at season-end... and be under the cap... thats the only way I know of if all teams are over the cap.

Waiving, I can only speak for my personal style of management when I say that waiving is only for droping a small 1yr contract to sign another one. i.e. waive a C at 385K for a PG at 385K... according to need.

the contract after you waive a player will still continue until another team picks him and reinstate a new contract with that player. waiving a pretty good player like those in your team...my guess and the end of the season those players will be playing with another team.......and what goldberg wrote pretty sums it all up. good work goldberg (why'd you left RAW high and dry?)

Through some complicated trades, I managed to acquire Rashard Lewis (only noteworthy loss was Morris Peterson) and cleared up *some* cap space... Only -5M over now. But I'm seriously lacking in depth now lol.

rashard is good....set the sliders fatigue into 42. then you wont need a much deeper bench.

Setting the fatigue slider at 42... That's cheating... Your starters cannot play through the entire game and the shortness of your bench should reflect that weakness. It's easy to go down that path... I'll like take 6-7 super good guys on my team (incase there's an injury) and just set the fatigue slider to 10 so the guys can all play through the game...

It's just lame... When you strip your bench, it is a weakness and it's a decision he has decided to make. And his ability to win games should suffer from it to make it reflect more like it would in real life.

Don't instruct anyone to cheat in the game... Like I don't have any good three point shooters so I'll set the slider to 70 so the threes will fall no matter how bad my shooters are...

well, technically, it's not cheating. AI will also adjust to the global sliders themselves. What you get is what the computer gets. So you both play under the same circumstances.

You can also look on the brighter side of things. Make amends on training and dig your bench for someone who will fit your playing style. this worked for me. you dont actually need the over-all rating. you just need them to be high enough on a stat that can fit their function. If you have an SF who is slow but can shoot 3's. you can use them as an SG. Height can make up for speed. Catch and shoot the player.

It is cheating as you take away the advantage of an AI team that has a good and long bench... You make the starters more important than they are only because you don't have good players on the bench... That in my mind is cheating... It is not realistic. Maybe it does not effect your game that much, but as you said it effects the other team as well so they will have less of a benefit playing their better bench players against your poor bench players as they play less minutes and thus not making that much happen...

You should never go to sliders to cover a weakness of your team... If you do so you just get unrealistic results...

Like what I said about the three point shooting for example... Or that you don't have good stealers or blockers on your team so you go and raise the blocking and stealing sliders so you'll get more steals and blocks... Then if you move the AI sliders as well it just makes the game result in way more steals and blocks and result is a twisted score, rebounds, steals, turnovers and blocks...

Okay, I have to give you this that I only play 8 minute quarters and playing 12 minute quarters might produce more correct playing times with lower fatigue settings... This is true, but just going to the sliders because you have a short bench is just something that you should not do.

Fatigue 50 at 8 minute quarters does give the bench some time to play too. I get pretty reslistic results with these settings.

Personally, I keep the game pretty realistic, but I know that there's some people out there who don't give a damn about realism and play with 0 fatigue, shooting sliders at max, blocks+steals at max, the works. Honestly, I don't care if you have a different opinion than someone else, you have a valid point, but don't try to lecture someone with a paragraph about why they are a cheater and they should feel ashamed.

I do understand that you two might be ok with the cheating and also many other players... I'm just saying that someone who is starting to play this game and learn the NBA stuff in it to do this and do that... He's worked hard on the trading stuff, it should result in a small backlash and you instruct him to go to the sliders and fix what's wrong with his team.

It's just bad... You instruct a new player to start cheating right off the top... If he starts on that path he will never ever learn to play the game of NBA like it should be played... The game, the trades, managing the player budgets, clearing cap space etc. etc. It is all fun, but when you start him on the path that go fix your lack of good bench players by sliders, and god knows what other stuff, then you suggest that you go and change a players salary to match someone elses to trade him more easily etc. etc. It never ends...

I'd like the new guys to enjoy and get to know the game with time rather than handing them the heroine as the first fix... You need to learn these things the hard way and I believe that once he gets used to the game and learns all the ropes, he can make up his own decisions about these things... Wheter to do modify the sliders to make the game easier or not. I usually use the sliders on both NBA and NHL games to make the games harder rather than easier...

I like the NBA Live experience, always have and always will... I'd like other people to feel the gratification that comes from learning stuff out and creating that first championship team, picking the right guy at the draft and making the right trades... It just feels good...

And what the problem making the cheaters feel bad??? I have read on many threads here that you guys have problems with cheaters online etc. etc. And with guys that quit after three quarters of play... What's the problem making those guys feel bad for a while... It doesn't neccesarily change anything, but if even one person is thwarted from this path by what I write, the world is a better gaming place...

And to you COOLmac and FendeR'... I was just hoping that you cheats wouldn't advice other people to cheat... The game is good... And it for the first time offers a bit of a challenge so don't ruin it for some new guys telling them that this way you can cover your teams weaknesses etc.

There are many things that can be done to strengthen the bench that don't include any misbehaviour... Like trading for players that do get stuff done... Tank a season to get a high draft pick and in the process try to create some cap space to get you some good bench players from the free agent pool... Maybe trade a star player to get 2-3 good players in return to give more strength to your bench... All these things... Or rather learn to play better with the bench guys...

Don't go ruining the experience for other people as well since you've already ruined your game...

ya grant hill is a gd solution, but i would wait for his contract to expire. he's such a gd playr in ma game. like i use lock on some player. n the computer controls jalen for me, he's average 20-5-4. like tha's gd. so yuppp. trade for grant hill or wait for contract to expire. =).

all that metsis said was really just a lecture. and it wont really change the minds of the poeple he was reffering to. all in all like i said its a matter of preference for you if how much you set your sliders. the sliders now are open for you to tinker because EA felt theres a need to stop the complains on how the game plays. so that would not be cheating for me. i repeat not cheatin

The sliders are good, but you shouldn't go to them to cover a weakness in your game. You should try to learn to play the game so that you can cover your weakness... Like 'I can't hit a three with Shaq' so I'll go put the three pointer slider to 99 and then try... End result: 'Yey, I can hit threes with Shaq'... How much did he learn to play the game? About none... It's an important lesson for dynasty mode... With this lesson learnt you are a better man in building a more succesful team for yourself the next time around... You learn best the hard way.

I want new guys to experience the pleasure of getting a good team together and what makes the good team separate from the bad team... And still there's nothing in the game yet about fielding 5 shoot first guys on your starting lineup and why that would not work... When they get this done, the role-players raise to their real value... Ben Wallace is a pized gem for Detroit for his defense and rebounding... This enables Rip, Tayshaun, Chauncey to put up more shots cause they don't have to play it inside and Big Ben is happy as he ain't a scorer...

Ranting on... Yes you can mold the game to your liking and you guys are already too corrupted to heal, but don't you go on corrupting other people as well... They'll do it on their own if they don't like what's going on in the game...

I have to agree with Metsis saying that it is cheating. It's very easy to abuse the sliders and that's just what some people do.

Dynasty mode is all about building a good overall team and that's what the CPU assumes as well. Now if there was a setting that tells the CPU to concentrate on the starters, then that would make it fair.

It's kind've like taking a test in school, but before that, you go through all the test questions and get rid of the questions you don't like or don't know the answer to. The other guys study and try to cover all the topics, but you have an advantage 'cause you know what topics to concentrate on...
