Question about Score Area ?

Mon Jan 17, 2005 11:34 pm

In players.dbf there is SCOREAREA column.

There are meanings:
Value Position Examples
2: G David Wesley, Bimbo Coles
4: G/F Paul Pierce, Marcus Fizer
5: G/F DerMarr Johnson, Walter McCarty
6: G Jason Terry, Jamal Crawford
7: G/F LeBron James
9: F/C Shareef Abdur-Rahim, Antoine Walker, Shaquille O'Neal
10: F/C Dirk Nowitzki, Donyell Marshall

For example, Kobe is number 5, so where are his 'sweet spots' ? And LB.James is one in whole league who have nr. 7. :?

This should work alongside with shooting range. In general it shows how close to the basket the player can have even greater chance of scoring, and how the computer plays him. You have FG, 3PT and Scoring Range and Offensive Style, in LeBrons case it "should" (havent seen him being played long enough to be sure) mean that he is best midrange, a bit inside from the FT line, while his FG and 3PT also give him the option to shoot further away, but that should be his top area for scoring.

You can see from the examples that the higher the number more closer to the basket it goes. I think it matters more for the computer than human player, but no one knows for a fact really. You can try and see what happens if Shaq is on 2.
