Talk about NBA Live 2005 here.

I'm having problems with my own players never trying to block a shot. No matter who's taking the shot or where they are on the court none of my players try to block any shot unless I take control of them to do it.
Is this happening to anyone else?

Maybe some teams try to block less than others, but I dont know
I have noticed while playing with the Pistons that not only do Wallace & Walllace block the shit out of the ball, but Rip Hamilton also blocks quite a few shots a game also
So maybe its just the team

Throughout the series, CPU teammates have never been quite as aggressive on D as the human player would like. If you want to aggressively challenge shots and go for the block, you generally have to take control of the closest player and do it yourself.

There is a huge difference if you are playing player lock or not... Or atleast there has been in the past.
Your team mates should be playing tougher defense when you have the player lock on. If not, you pretty much have to deal with the defense yourself.
I have always played switch so I really don't know. I have a friend that plays with the player lock on and he has said this...

In Superstar level your teammates NEVER try to block a shot, it's all up to you.

Yup, Cesco is right, on superstar player has to be the one playing the ball, either in offensive or defensive end. It is actually for the good cause. In previous Lives I usually played with my PG on defense, all the time, changing when needed to do soemthing but still, mostly PG. Now, as in offense (you being the man who controls the ball most of the game), you also have to be in defense, being the man who directly defends the opposing player with the ball. It actually lets you feel the defensive capabilities of the players more and makes defensive end as interesting as offensive.

I agree with Cesco. When i changed to superstar my player got less aggressive. On previous "lives" i noticed my SG and SF getting 3-4 blocks a game when playing on players like Kobe and Tracy McGrady... but on Live05 my Center (Yao) almost never goes up for a block... i have to do it myself and most of the time i miss.
Because of this i have started to switch to the player on Defense closest to the ball.
