relying on the PG too much?

Thu Jan 06, 2005 5:40 pm

so my 2nd dynasty i am atlanta. all i have done is signed corie blount and rick brunson to make up some extra numbers.

rick brunson you say?

ok well i have a special loyalty to him as he played in my hometown for a while in the early 90s

so i have worked out that long passing to the PG on a break for a layup is by far the easiest way to score in this game, even with 2 defenders you can just cross them up or spin past. when i am in trouble i end up having my pg make 25+ points without any problems

but the reality is that rick brunson will not be scoring 20+ points every game

i find that with pretty much any team i use the scoring generally looks like this :

PG 25+
SG 10
SF 10
PF 30+
C 10

it is especially easy if i have a star PG like iverson/francis etc, they rack up like 40 points a game every single time i play

is it just the way i play or do other people find this?

I think it might be just the way you play. I use Eddie House in my Bobcats team, and I'd imagine his shooting ratings are better than Brunsons but the most I've scored with him is 16 and that was a game where I constantly attacked the basket and pulled off a few fluke lay-ups.

What difficulty/sliders are you using? Maybe if you lower the freestyle control thing so it won't work as well when you spin past people it'll stop you getting to the basket so easily and make the PG's stats a bit more accurate. Otherwise you could turn the game speed down, I found that doing that makes it too irritating to try and fast break all the time.

I play the same way you do, except I my PF doesn't score 30+ points a night, considering its Lawrence Funderburke, but usually my PG averages around 25+ a night.

But on some different teams, it so happens that I just use my PG to dish out the ball, even when I could be scoring 25 points with them. Guess it relies on the team...at least for me...

Check out fgrep's sliders in the slider thread (Y) You might wanna adjust the game speed/shooting sliders a bit just because the sliders make it quite hard, but everything else is on track.

I have big problems to score with may PG, whatever I have Iverson or Brunson. But I have no Problem to dominate a game with Mark Blount and Darko Milicic in the frontcourt.

What I want to say. The stats of your players a result of your personal playing style and your game sliders. If you tweak your sliders (lower fg, 3pt ratings) you will see it is not so easy to score.

The style of play definitely matters alot. It's strange how with forwards, if you try and take a face up jumper 8 times out of 10 it'll get blocked but with a PG if you dribble the ball a bit and take that same jumper generally it won't get blocked at all. I guess you've just got to mimic the Iverson style of playing if you want to score alot with PG's.
