How to intercept???

Postby jovajsha on Fri Dec 24, 2004 5:03 pm

Can someone tell me how to intercept a pass (that's thing CPU does very often)? It's also most important to me when playing in 2 player mode. (for example, I'm defending a center ahead of him and my opponent trows ball right through me and big dunk is coming).
I'm playing on keyboard and can't see a control for interception. Help please.
Greetings to all members 'cause this is my first post here :D

I *think* you have to press the steal button while standing on the passing lane. One thing is that you can't intercept a pass while running, at least I've never done it.

btw it depends on your interception slider.

Using the "Hands Up" freestyle defense move while standing in the passing lane is also effective.

@King_James88
I tried with steal button but that's not the move the CPU makes when intercepting my passes.
@Andrew
Guess it'll be a little hard to do a "hands up" freestyle defence on keyboard. Anyway i'll keep trying because I consider this important aspect of the game.

Yes, that does make things a little more difficult. Press the Jump (Block/Rebound) key has traditionally helped when playing the passing lanes, the steal key should be effective too if you get right in the line of the pass and time it correctly. Admittedly, it is much easier with Freestyle control.

And by the way, it is much easier to intercept a pass when the CPU throws a very very slow lob pass. Especially when the PG throws a lob pass to the other guys outside the perimeter (SG). I know that's their habit of playing, so I usually stand between my man and the passer, waiting for the stupid CPU to throw the ball directly into my waiting hands. And there's no risk in doing that too, because they're too stupid to make a basket cut.

But if the pass is travelling at the speed of a bullet, you can't intercept it AT ALL. Well, maybe sometimes by the CPU.

You were right. I had few steals just standing in pass lane and pressing steal on those slow lob passes.
