Low rebound numbers for guards?

Postby AdamBa17 on Fri Dec 17, 2004 10:25 pm

I noticed in some people's Dynasty's that they are managing to average over 5 boards per game for their SG or SF.
In my Dynasty with the Cavs I got Lebron, and he's only averaging 4 rebounds per game. It just seems that everytime there is a rebound, he's always out ready to run the fastbreak and the rebound goes to the C or PF.

How are you guys getting your guards to rebound so well?! Do you control just him on defence? Even on my last Dynasty, T-Mac only ended up averaging 2.5 rebounds per game! This is unrealistic!

Help!

Sometimes it's because I'm controlling my guards and swingmen, but it often depends on the way the CPU team is playing. Big men taking long jumpers, mismatches down low, low post double teams that include a guard and defending a cutting player who doesn't get the ball (but instead is forced to fight for the rebound as a shot from the outside is launched) generally places your smaller guys in position for more rebounds.

I don't have any problems with this. I got luol deng averaging over 7 boards a game. When I play with the bulls I can get my smaller players to rebound, but....they're not really good at it, so with the bulls it's pretty realistic that the big men grab the most boards

^^ Thanks for the feedback, both of you. But are you actually controling the smaller players like Deng and putting them in position for the rebound, or are they just there?

yea I know what you mean, my SF doesn't average a lot of rebounds but my PF and C gets over 10 a game so Im sure they are going to get rebounds so I control my SF most of the time and I also use LeBron at SF and now I got him averagin over 10 boards a game but I don't control him all game so I do get fastbreaks with him also...

Sometimes, yes, but I find that my smaller players end up with a few boards of their own accord. What's your setting for Quarter Length?

I got 10 minute quarters. We take about 70-80 shots a game.

One thing I have noticed though is that I only average 40 boards a game, or just below. I think that is actually a few boards low, but I can't complain too much.

When I was noticing guards stats on NBA.com though, I realised that most guards average about 1.5 offensive boards a game as well, whereas Lebron on my team is averaging like 0.3, so maybe if i try to get my own board when I miss shots with him it will go up a bit.

Thanks for the feedback guys.
