Simulation Dynasty Issue

Postby batman001c on Sun Dec 05, 2004 9:37 pm

My first couple seasons in dynasty mode went well; I led the Bobcats to championships after two seasons. But now it seems that I can't get my team to win no matter what when I start a new season. I simulate all of my games, and while they consistently lose my teams rating is a 99. The last dynasty I had featured Kobe Bryant, Tracy McGrady, and Amare Stoudemire with decent role players but in two seasons they finished 85-79. Does anyone know if there's something that I'm missing that would have anything to do with my team's inablility to win? It's really pissing me off that I have one of the best teams in the league talent wise but can't make the playoffs.

Yep I know the answer...because you're SIMULATING!

I noticed this with my 2004 Dynasty as well...but I think that had to do more with the 'come from behind bug' that 2004 had. Anyway, I'll let you know when that happens to me once I get to 99 rating...I hope.

I think its not like Live 03 where even if u have a sick rated team u just win everythin......cause I think their a certain rating tools that sometimes effect the way the team plays ala team chemistry.

Plus u might wanna play a more REALISTIC dynasty....it tends to be more fun and challenging that way. (y)

waaaay old thread...but i noticed nobody answered, and i feel this is a real bug in Dynasty Mode so hopefully people will complain and get it fixed.

The Team Rating is an average of all the players, even the scrubs who never play. Kobe Bryant is probably 75%+ of the Lakers, but the way the game calculates it he's worth just as much as some guy on the Injured List.

That means if your team is full roster, all those scrubs lower your rating, even if you are playing with a high Fatigue setting.

My team has nobody above 70, but only has 8 or 9 players (they are all in the 60s and 70s) my team is rated 99. My fatigue is set to 70, so the starters tire out in a few minutes and the bench does get plenty of play.

But if you actually play that team, they'll get trounced by the teams with 80+ and 90+ players and a solid bench.

Easily solved by inflating your team to a "normal" size, except it's then a gigantic PITA to get the 250 points for having every team member score...

Same for me. My response is HUH?

Team rating was an average of all players overall ratings in NBA 2003... but not in 2005... I have one guy at 85, 2 in the 70s, 3 in the 60s, and the others lower than 60... yet my team rating is 94  ... in NBA Live 2003, it would have been a 65 team rating :!: ... I don't know how they come up with this 94 team rating but its not like the previous games...

Yeah, this Maes guy doesn't know what he's talking about...

And you shouldn't thin down your team like that. If you have 7-9 players on your team, it's no wonder if you keep on losing while simulating.

I saw this effect on Live 2000 already. I played franchise with a friend and he downsized his team to 9 guys good guys, but he kept on losing all the games... Atleast when simulating.

Simulation is not such a sure thing as playing all the games. But what really bugs me is that simulated games give crappy dynasty points... They should give good hones dynasty points...

Maybe it does have something to do with how your bench performes... I remember my friend had a really stellar starting five, but had an average 3-4 guys on the bench. He did quite bad. He just kept trying to trade two for one better guy all along and ended up shooting himself in the foot.

You should always have like 12 guys on your roster so you have some room for injuries to happen...

Getting all 12 guys to score in a game isn't that hard unless you play like 6 minute quarters. I play 8 minute quarters and usually have to force someone to score, but it ain't that hard if you have a good team.

So has anyone figured out a good formula for creating teams that are more likely to win simulations? I like playing 82 game seasons so I can't play them all...

For me, it's just trial and error...I once had a team with 97 overall but I ended the season with a winning pct. barely over .500. On another dynasty, I had a team with 85 overall, and ended up ranked 3rd in the standings..

Want to win in a simmed league? Get scorers, a lot of them. Try trading for Peja Stojakovic and witness the miracle...

Of course you should keep a full team.

The problem i'm talking about is how the game DISPLAYS your rating isn't accurate. It will tell you that you have a 99 team when it's actually a 70ish team. And that's why the OP is probably losing with a 99 team all the time (which techincally can't happen in a all sim season).

Do this exercise:
Take a team of only 5 players, rated whatever. Note your overall team rating, let's say it's 90.

Now add 9 more players to go up to 14, all of them rated at 50. Your team goes down in rating, when all you've done is beefed up your bench.
“Talent wins games, but teamwork and intelligence wins championships.”
