Game always crashes...never finishes a full game

Postby webb4 on Fri Nov 19, 2004 4:22 pm

Hi, I just got Live 2005. I was able to fully install the game, but it crashes every time I play it...on every mode. I actually can't even play the dunk contest...as it crashes before the contest starts. I'm sorry guys, but I don't know much about computers so I don't know where to find my specifications. I guess from what I've read here, it seems like there's something wrong with my video stuff? Can anyone tell me where to find my info on my computer? And does anyone have any idea what is wrong with my game? Thanks so much.

beforce you throw it into trash can ~ try these out:

1, download and install the latest video card drivers, if problems remain--

2, reinstall your system (or update)

3, reintall NBA LIVE 2005

3, if your efforts result in vain , follow the instruction before the 1st one.

Hi, thanks for the reply. Where should I go to download the lastest video driver? Thanks a lot. Sorry I'm not much of a computer person.

you have to know what kind of video card you have.

if you download this program, it will tell you all your system specs, then we'd be able to help you more :)

another way to check your system specs is (and this is assuming your running windows xp) is to go to start, control panel, system, hardware and device manager; it'll tell you pretty much everything about your pc.

also, you can go to start, all programs, accessories, system tools, system info. this also gives pc info. let us know what your specs are, b/c it's really difficult to help without that stuff.

A lot of times when games crash prior to the game actually starting it is one of the following reasons:

DirectX may not be up to date.
Your sound drivers may not be up to date
Your video drivers may not be up to date.

The problem shouldn't lie with your system specs otherwise the game would not have loaded at all. Normally with sound issues you have to disable Full Acceleration on your sound in DirectX. Just go to Start>Run and type DXDIAG and click OK. From here go to the sound tab and move the Full Acceleration slider off or all the way to the left. This normally fixes the problem. Be sure to check your Device Manager for the Brand and Model# of your video card and sound cards and be sure to visit the manufacturer site and download the latest drivers. Also be sure that NBA Live 2005 supports your video and sound cards by checking in the ReadMe.txt file included with the game. Check what they have against what your system says in Device Manager. Hope this helps

Hi, thanks for all the replys guys!

No there aren't any error messages whatsoever when it crashes...the screen goes blank for a second and then goes to my desktop

I think my sound is fine because it sounds ok in the game, I think it's the video

Sometimes when I play a game, a player might have this black block covering for connecting to his body...sometimes its in the shape of a triangle as well

But that happens rarely...I can start a game just fine but it will eventually crash...I can't play the dunk and three-point contest

Following you guys' direction I got my Specs:

Just because it sounds ok ingame doesn't mean its not the sound. Sometimes its just a matter of changing from hardware acceleration to software driven.

I see...cool thanks for the tip...I tried typing in DXDIAG in Start->Run, but it says that it cannot find that. Is there another way I can turn my full acceleration down? Thanks.
