installation hangs

Postby desdope on Fri Nov 19, 2004 11:50 am

hi guys,

i have a strange problem which i cannot work around... if i install the game (if i TRY to, to be precise) it will hang at the end of CD1. it should ask you for CD2 at 43%, current file "3pthdr.fcd". that's what happens on my notebook anyway. if however i try to install it on my normal pc it will start hanging at around 43% and the install-meter will move on to 53% while checking, checking, checking the bloody CD. then it will claim not to be able to find "audpbpe.big".

does anyone know about that problem or did you encounter it? i would really love to play the game but my notebook was outdated 4 years ago, so guess my chances on playing nba live 2005 ;)

thx for any help,
des

You could try two things:

1. Copy everything from both Cd's to a temporary folder on your hard drive and install from there.

2. Make images of both discs and mount them using a virtual drive program such as alcohol 120 or daemon Tools and install from there.

Which ever way you use you still need the original CD to play the game due to the cd check when you start the game.

Had the same problem setup hanging at 43% and requesting a file which is on CD 2 but never asked for CD 2.

The following worked:

- create a folder on C: named "Disk Images", the space between Disk and Images is important
- inside this folder create a "Disk1" and "Disk2" folder
- copy the CDs into these folders
- execute setup.exe in "Disk1" folder

if you use virtual drives, first check if there's no image of another game mounted cuz if it is, nba lives tries to get the file from that. Make sure that CD1 is the only cd inserted or mounted on your pc.
