if we use Excel to edit some datebase file(e.g. players.dbf), will it cause codebase error??

Even though the more recent versions of Excel don't cause as many problems when editing dbf files, it's much safer to use DB Commander.

Use a DBF editor, It works. This is the best (I play and edit live since '97)

Excel didn't work since 2001 on, don't know this year.
My 2 cents,

The only thing you can't do in Excel is create new rows (fields). It automatically gets deleted once you exit the program.
