Cards

The place to start when looking for prices on computer gear is pricewatch.com.

It shows quite a variety for under $80, including the ASUS GEForce FX5200.

Your card is shown there at about $30.

The graphics on the game look cartoonish. If the game is running smoothly a video card won't improve it.

If possible, try to stay away from the 5200, although that might be the best youll be able to do for 80 bucks...

Avoid any radeon cards that say SE at all costs. i.e. radeon 9200se
Se editions are the sh*ts, much like MX's are/were. For Nvidia cards LE is the one you want to steer away from.

If you really want to get a new video card, try to save a bit more money, (130, 140) get a 9600 or something, Trust me, It will pay of in the long run.

*Looks at his own 9200se*
If only someone could have told me sooner.. :(

live 2004 graphics look like a 9/10 compared to this live 2k5 on the same computer i'd give it a 5 or 6 out of 10.... the animations are good but actual in game play give me a headache b/c the graphics are just too bad..i'll post screen shots. the game runs smoothly..the gfx are just pathetic.

That card is decent, however keep in mind that it has 256 MB, but it is not 256 bit, and you really wont notice that much difference between this model and the same model with only 128 bit. I'll look around for ya too.

This one will do you MUCH better.

edit. Dont worry about a 256 MB card, as some 128 MB could still outperform them beccause of the bit issue i referred to earlier. even if you dont pick this one... try to pick a card that is at least 128 bit. It will give you the most bang for your buck. :D

This table summarizes the specs on just about every chipset you could find in a video card you might want. 9600XT is not a bad choice for the dough.

The Radeon 9800 XT is a good card. I did a number of PC tournament events with those cards in April.
