IS THERE ANYTHING TO DO IN THE POST????

Wed Nov 03, 2004 1:03 pm

I'll admit I haven't had the game very long... I've only played a handful of games. With the exception of certain big dudes like Shaq that I can just back down and slam with, I can't score in the post. I like how you can tap and double tap the drop step button, they're both good animations, but they JUST DONT DO ANYTHING.

Is anyone else having the same problem? if not can you steer me in the right direction?

I'm playing with the Raptors and Bosh can't do shit and it depresses me cause I love the guy.

Thanks

I agree with the fact that the drop step are great animations and they don't even fake the defender out one bit. It's a shame because faking out your player works when you tap the right analog stick left or right.

Bosh's great, but if you want to do something with Bosh, your best bet is to fake by using the analog sticks and jump fake because if you try to shoot in any way or form without beating your man right away, you're going to get blocked easily.

I know this is an old post & I should just let it fade but I have a couple of post moves that seem to work when trying to fake a defender...
1) Get in the post...
2) Get the ball to the guy you have posting up...
3) Make sure he's back on to your defender...
4) Shoulder fake RIGHT...& press down immediatly after...I find my defender will jump in the air thinking I'm going to shoot...take the shot & you have a good chance of hitting the shot or getting the foul or you can simply run around him for the easy bucket!! CAUTION: Turnovers are plentyful, double team is a bitch!!

1) Follow steps 1, 2 & 3...
4) press down so your man is back on with one foot out...release & immediatly press up...he should do a fake pass!!

i play with the blazers and i use randolph in the post for most of the game. i actually use him and some PFs that i drafted over the last 7 yeras in the dynasty.

i get blocked probably 7 times a game or so (ouch), but that's ok.
the moves i do that work very well are:

1) pass inside -- back down -- press dropstep (he will drop step and swing his elbows around the defender) and shoot. works wonderful and very realistic to what randolph does in real life

2) on the left side, face up against the defender. right analog to the left (to jab step to the left), then take one dribble that way and shoot. works great as well..

i have to say a lot of it is timing. blocks get very annoying, definately, however i gotta say many of them are simply because of bad timing on my part..

When you are using the shoulder fake button, make sure you aren't too close to the basket. With Garnett, I like to do press the shoulder fake and then do a fadeaway. Also make sure you start shooting before the faking animation ends. I found out that if you take fadeaways a little further out as well as starting the shooting animation before the faking animation ends, you don't get blocked as much. When i'm close, I either try to hook it or just press the layup button and hope to get an And1. It takes sometimes to get use to it. In the beginning, I keep on getting blocked while using Garnett. Now, I'm using his entire repetoire.

what I do is I either start backing down and if the defender moves toward the circle when I back down against him, I turn and push him in more and dunk and the 2nd thing I usually do is I start backing down and if I am not gettin the position I want, I turn around and either shoot or dunk the ball according to how close I am to the basket

The shoulder fake doesn't do a lot (it does something though) but when playing against a human opponent, it works really well for setting them up for an up and under. When you use the shoulder fake a lot then do a fadeaway for example, you can get your opponent used to thinking your going to shoot after the fakes. Once you set that in his mind, do a shoulder fake as usual and then a pump fake to try to create the foul and get to the line, or layup button to try for an easy basket. If he starts double teaming you, you can use the fakes and then pass it to the other big man for the slam.
