Talk about NBA Live 2005 here.

I have been playing some games now on PC (on All-Star and Superstar), and I just can't find ways to score effectively inside.
Pau Gasol has an Inside Scoring rating of 84, but when trying to score with him he finishes with like 4/21 FG or something for me.
Can anyone please tell me how to score with big men? It was so easy in NBA 2004, but I just can't get it done in 05.

I seem to be unable to back down other players, even if they're considerably weaker. Therefore it's hard to get good position in the post and to make an efficient play with the back to the basket.

i back down man, then pro hop and then hard dunk

Thats Live for you! How many points does Pau score per game? And how many of those come from SIMPLE backdows of players?!

Big men are easy to score with. You can't do what you did last season (catch, turn, shoot) but you can still score. If you have a shooting big man (dirk, garrity, gasol etc), throw some fakes in first, then shoot. If you have a quick big man (kg, amare, elton brand) use that speed, do a spin then go up with the dunk/lay up button. You have to play to ur big man strengths. But there are certain players that are just terrible at scoring.. dont force things and you'll be ok.

For some reason, posting up and throwing a fake will discard your defender, giving you a more or less open jumper from close. This worked in 2004 too...

myself, i have alot easier time with my big men than i do with the mid range game. my guards basicly drive to the hoop like in 04 or they miss so i tend to give my 4 and 5 the ball alot more than i normally would.

It's to play in the post to me. Hopefully your not doing 2 footers, and that could be a reason why your post is uneffective. Pau can shoot short jumpers as well, and if you back down on someone a little shorter than him, you can shoot the hook shot and make it most of the time. If the player doesnt have a block icon, you can try to dunk on him by backing him down

I find that my post guys score a lot too. Scoring in the post off moves may work, or may not work, but I find that my big guys get a lot of buckets from offensive rebounds. I think they get most of the points from getting good positioning when my guard drives into the baseline/lane and does a no-look-pass to the big fellas.

Mid range shots will go in more often if you are open. Throw some fakes or moves to shake the defender then shoot, or go off a pick.

Screens are awesome to set up for a hop step and a free throw line jumper

When you say setting up screens, do you press the "pick and roll" option or is there actually a "screen" playcall setup?

laugh, despite all my gripes about this years game the one thing i don't have trouble doing is scoring in the paint. Yao Ming averages about 30 points a game while shooting about 75%, back them down till your inside foot touches the paint and dunk, no hop, no juke, just dunk. Even when they foul him he tosses it up over his head and it goes in. If there is a real nasty shot blocker on him i'll throw the hook. This is on all-star with block left unchanged from default even. Since the freestyle and passing are so slow in this years version the only way I score is on the post, in transition and on wide open threes when they double or triple team Yao once he's put down five straight dunks.
