How to install patches in NBA Live 2005

Sat Oct 30, 2004 12:57 pm

This tutorial explains the basic in replacing graphic files in .viv formats. This will teach people who want to learn how to add new cyberfaces, jerseys, shoes, etc. in NBA live 2005. The example below will show you how to install a cyberface.

This particular method involves permanently replacing EA's original art.

Step 1: Download the following tools - they should be available @ http://www.nba-live.com or http://www.nbalive.org

EA Graphics Editor
FshX - this is not necessarily needed but it is used to import graphics into an existing .fsh file

Step 2: Download the patch you want.

Step 3: Open your downloaded file using WinZip and extract the files inside to your Desktop.

Step 4: Open EA Graphics Editor, click on File > Open and look for the plyrface.viv file. It should be located in sgsm\players folders inside your main NBA Live 2005 folder.

Image

Step 5: Click on Tools > Import Wizard > Add files.. > Add > Select your cyberface files (in this case, shoneal and shonealr) > Next > Finished

Image

Step 6: All done! Open your game and this should be your final result for the new cyberface.

This is basically the same concept for every patch. I hope that this tutorial has helped you to learn more about the basics of NBA Live patch installation and how they work.

Open C:\NBA Live 2005\sgsm\players\plyrface.viv (your directory folder could be different but the bold part is what needs to be at the end) with EA Graphics Editor.

You have to extract tidunca.fsh out of the .viv and open it with FshX.

Tue May 10, 2005 8:35 am

Why can't I save it as a Winzip file?

Mon Jun 13, 2005 3:57 am

if you place a cyberface in graphigs editor you have to open the playerface file.
but in with file you have to paste the portraits?

Mon Jun 13, 2005 7:18 am

C:\\Program Files\EA Sports\NBA Live 2005\fe\plyrprts
