Talk about NBA Live 2005 here.

I have the Eliminator Aftershock controller and no matter what I set, I can't call plays. I set a button to playcalling, and either keyboard or gamepad buttons to each play, and they don't work. Further, if I try to set gamepad buttons to call plays, they disable things like passing, shooting etc.
In 2004 one button was playcalling, and when pressed in conjunction with another button it called a play.
Anyone know how to get this to work?

I also had the same problem as you guys with the Eliminator Aftershock controller. I also had problems with Madden with the controller never callibrating correctly. Also last year my controller would cut off periodically during game play. I'd have to unplug it and re-plug it back up after I pause the game.
I eventually ended up going and buying the Nyko Airflo gamepad. Since then I haven't been having any problems. The configuration is similar to a PS2 gamepad. The only problem is that the face buttons are numbered differently but with the in game configuration everything works perfectly..........Also the pad has a fan that cools your hand.
It doesn't have the Rumble feature but I haven't had a game work with the Rumble since Madden 2000 I think.
Also I can use the thumb pad to call plays

i'm so glad to hear that i'm not the only one, but not glad to hear that it's a real problem. in live 2004, the gamepad calibration was perfect, i was able to use the dpad for movement and press button 9 + 1,2,3 or 4 to call a play. the mapping/calibration/configuration in this year's version is really messed up, but i figured it out (i think) last night. unfortunately, i'm at work now and i have it written down at home and will post it later or tomorrow. the basic thing is it doesn't matter what you set up in the configure controller screen (i.e., d-pad up, d-pad down); what matters is how it is set up in the playbook options screen (which is only accessible while playing a game). the numbers there are set, so that 1=d-pad down, 2=dpad up, (again, i'm at work and can't remember what number equals what, i just mentioned it to get my point across) etc., no matter what you do in the configure controller screen. AND the other thing is, it seems like it doesn't matter if you save it, you have to set it up everytime for every game, which is a real pain, but what can you do. there should be a patch to fix this, but who knows if one will really come out. also, in this year's version, you can't use the dpad for movement, you have to use the left analog stick (which, i admit, am liking it and getting used to).
please let me know if that works.
you know, nba live first came out for the pc (back in 95) and now the pc version is just being ported from the console version. easports should be focussing the game for the pc (especially b/c of the different configuations) and porting it to the consoles, not the other way around. the pc version should be the priority - besides it looks and works better for the pc. not to knock anyone who uses consoles, but just my two cents.

I agree, but if EA wants to make profit > community, consoles is where the money is at.

I have the same problem on logitech dual action.
I just use the d pad now for quick plays.

None of this works. I cannot set D-Pad for anything, and in Playbook there are no places to change settings...just plays.
When I make a key be 'playcalling', pressing it on defense causes an intentional foul.

Same thing happens to me. No D-pad doesn't bother me as much since it didn't work in 2004, but no playcalling and off-the-ball, which I used a lot in 2004, really irks me.

did anyone understand what is the solution to this problem on that nbkid post?? "what matters is how it is set up in the playbook options screen"
- no it isn't!! if there are no buttons assign then it doesn't matter what you do in the playbook options screen...
In Playbook there are no places to change settings...just plays.

i'll clarify my solution in another, separate, brand-new thread shortly. i apologize for the confusion.
