Problem with running game on PC

Well, I just got the game.

I was able to browse through all the menus.
But when I actually want to play a game, then it loads it up and then the game exits all of a sudden - and i'm back at the desktop.

I know ppl had problems like this with previous versions of live. Can anyone give me any tips on how to solve this problem?

Normally this is an issue with either your sound or video card drivers. Be sure that you have the most up to date drivers installed and that you have at least DirectX 9.0b

I tried everything you said but it didn't work.

I am able to use the practice mode and the slam dunk school mode. But everything else does not work. It goes into the loading screen and once it finishes loading, the game crashes.

hello. man, try selecting Enviroment details to medium. i had the same problem as you're having it right now but i discovered that the game crashes everytime enviroment detalis are up to high or maximum level. altough i have no clue why is that the way it is but it works for me..hope it helps

that helped ... and now it actually starts the introductions ... but when its time for the starting lineups, it crashes again. So i'm assuming this is a problem with the detail settings.

it may actually be your video card, at some level; i'm guessing that games nowadays require closer to 64, 128 for things to run smoother. everything else doesn't look like it could cause the problems your having, unless you have a bug/virus/worm or need to format your system. i usually do format when the new nba live comes out to avoid any kinds of problems. you can also check ea's tech support site (can't remember it right now, but it's at easports.com) to see if they have anything on it or write to them. i know it's still new, but there are some topics there and i've written to them before and they are usually pretty good at getting back to you. hope this helps.

Live 04 ran great on my laptop ... so i thought I shouldnt have problems with 05. But you're right, I probably need to try reformatting my comp. If that doesn't work, I'll contact EA. Thanks for your help.

When the game starts, I am able to see the introductions and the players warming up. But, when it's about time to go to tip-off, that's when it crashes.
There is something conflicting with my system there. I don't think it has anything to do with my video card.

hi there i am having the same problem as well. I am also running live 05 on the same laptop. Have you found out anyhting new please help as iam also very pissed off

Live 2004 has that "EAsy Info" tool by EA that tests your system and shows you what might prevent you from running their game. If that's still there for 2005 you should try running this to make sure you pass all compatibility tests.

I would also definitely suggest updating all drivers - most importantly gfx card, but also chipset, soundcard etc. And make sure you have DirectX9.0c installed!

I'm not too familiar with the nvidia line of video cards, but is your card directx 9.0b compatible? easports has it as a requirement has for the pc.

The version I had was less than 61.76. So I installed the new drivers from that site and the game works to perfection.
