Can one player won the MVP and 6th man at the same time?

Postby Terry on Fri Oct 22, 2004 12:32 pm

I know this is kind of weird.

If I put my best player on the bench but let him play the most minutes in the team, can he still qualify for the MVP and 6th man at the same time?

why not? that wouldn't be realistic, but nothing prevents a player from being both a MVP and a 6th man. I suggest you to try, just to make sure that the game engine doesn't disable that "feature". but i have one question: why do you want to make that?

Yes, I think I will try. Actually, I was thinking how many personal awards one player can win in one season. I think MVP and defence player won't be a problem but inlcuding rookie and most improve seems very difficult. So I think MVP+defence player+6th man is the most one player can earn in one season.

i am rather sure that a rookie cannot win most improved so forget that one. as for winning the mvp as a 6th man, well i think you can. here is how you can check. play a few games and constantly give them the ball. if he got really good stats and he is not on that list for possible mvp's at seasons end(assuming live 2005 still got that list) then you cant win it, if he is on you can.

ROY is not very difficult. But if you use realistic slider and you don't edit the player, MVP is quite a challenge for a rookie.

Adding the DPOY & 6th Man makes it "almost" impossible

well, Damon Stoudamire was the ROY of the rookie year of Sabas, who was only 2nd, and the 6th man award was for Toni Kukoc that year :)

Of course u can win ROY, MVP, 6th, DPOY, (in NBA Live game)
U have to play every game, it would help if u have the best possible rookie, say 1st pick, in very strong draft (assuming it still works like that in 2005). U dont strat ut rookie, but sub him in at first chance u have. There he's 6th Man. Then keep giving him the ball to score, make him leading socrer. I would help if he was good in steels. Put him as PG so that he is guarding the ball all the time and attempt to steel.

The only time ur player will be in MVP's list is he is playing good min. If u simulate 12min quater but play only 5min, then ur player will not be in the list, but will swtill win MVP and what ever.

It's almost impossible for that to happen if ur simulating, and it would be pretty hard if he's a big man who cant steel the ball. But then u can block!
