Disappointed by playcalling

The playcalling this year, if anything, is worse than last year. I'm talking about the basic quick plays, too. Call isolation? A guy who is near you might try to set a pick. Call pick and roll? Nobody comes over. It's really pathetic.

On a related note... one thing the Knicks do really well is pick and roll with Kurt Thomas setting the picks because he can shoot so well inside 17-18 feet. To make this work, I call isolation while handling with Steph. Maybe, just maybe eventually enough guys clear out so I can off-ball switch (which also sucks -- takes way too long to take effect, like half a second or more?!?) to Thomas. Guess what? He gets "stickied" in the post to the guy defending him. WTF? Is there a slider for in-the-post stickiness? It's really a joke -- I can be pointing the controller directly away from the basket with turbo on, and still the stickiness, well, sticks.

I must say, though, the one or two times this worked (I tried it every time down the court to practice) it was beautiful. But it is frustrating to have games flaws not even let me miss the shot or pass the ball away to the opponent.

haven't had those probs with the quick plays not working.

I'ts been on and off with me. Some games they run their sets perfect in others they refuse to clear out for me. I think it also depends on the team you face, the better the team the more the tendency is there to get lax.

i hear ya on the stuck in the post thing. I play as seattle and one of my favorite plays is off the ball switching to Radmanovic, have him set a screen, and then shoot the 3. pick and fade sorta thing. If i don't select Radmanovic early enough in the possession he gets stuck in his post animation. it's really annoying. there's nothing you can do.

I haven't really had any issues with playcalling though. i remember one time Potapenko got stuck behind a defender and couldnt' set the pick. he was trying though. he was just sorta running on the spot. Iso works fine for me.

Edit: I should also add that setting a pick doesn't always work! So let's add up the three major problems in running a pretty common play in the NBA:

1. Playcalling doesn't work
2. Players are glued together even when "fighting for the post" at the 3pt line (yes it's happening)
3. setting a pick doesn't work

This is truly pathetic. Anybody want to buy a copy of Live 2005 for Xbox? I may have one to sell.

they removed the preview play feature

usually start with the postup quick play. then pass the ball down into the post from the perimeter. from there its back down the defender while pressing the cut-to-basket quick play button. most the time people cut to the basket and theres no probs dishing it to them for an easy 2 or two freethow attempts... maybe issues are different on each console.

Wow, it took a while for someone to mention this. I hope it'll be fixed in the PC version.
