Too Many Blocks and Pro-Hop

Postby SergioK4L on Thu Sep 30, 2004 2:26 pm

I've played 2 games on SuperStar against Charlotte and the blocking was insane. Emeka Okafor had 10 and 12 blocks in each game. I don't mind getting blocked in the paint while attempting a dunk or lay up but I cannot stand getting blocked while taking a 15' jumper. When does that ever happen in a real NBA game? I've turned the CPU blocking slidder all the way down to 5. Hopefully this helps!

Also, why is the User pro-hop at zero? What's the point of having it then? I play with the Knicks and when you have Stephon Marbury, Jamal Crawford and Tim Thomas, you NEED to be able to drive the ball! In both games, 99% of the time the pro-hop resulted in a turn over or an offensive foul. That got sooo frustrating! So the User pro-hop slidder is at 50, which I hope is fair and right.

I'm sure I will edit more slidders the more I play but that's all I have so far. Anyone else having these problems?

Yeah, I've heard people are having trouble with the blocks on default but once the sliders are set, they're fine.

One really annoying thing with block from '04 was when you'd go up for a dunk and the CPU comes out of no where and blocks your dunk. Dunks simply don't get blocked all that often. I don't mind getting weak floaters or layups blocked, but when I have several dunks blocked in a game that's just annoying as hell.

Is this still a problem?

As it has been stated in many interviews and reviews and previews etc. The pro-hop has been toned down. It was too powerful in 04 so it's nice to hear that you can't just do it every time.

And people... There's always a learning curve... You need to learn how to play it before making any judgements on it. 2 games!?! That's like nothing. That's like taking Deus Ex and playing the first mission for 10 minutes and saying that this game is totally boring and never play the game again.

You have to learn. Jump shots get blocked if you don't take smart jumpers... You just can't hoist one up on a guy from a stand still. An athletic guy will block you... And you'll never get off a good shot.

Anyway... It's the learning curve... I assume... There is always something new to learn and something that has been changed. So come here after 10 games and say what is wrong with it and then you might have the right idea on it. But please... After 2 games, you haven't got a clue, cause you don't know how to play it yet.

Turn jumpshot blocks to 0 as soon as you open the game, I always do that, the thing that need to be adjusted right away from what I've heard are:

Blocks, Force Field, Fatique, Subs, and Pro-Hop.

got suprised when i saw that the pro-hop and drop-step sliders for the user were set on zero on default while the cpu's was set in the 70's.

Just mess with the sliders and you'll find something that suits you. The pro-hop is fine now imo...last year it was too strong. I think they increased the potency of freestyle to make up for it though.

I've actually havent had any problems with the "new" prohop i've been able to do it more than a few times. the trick is to not do it when the man is in front of you lol. if you do it when he's to your side you can do it. also you can split the D, if timed right. i play with the knicks and raptors and i've split the D a few times with Penny.
