Should I just save my money and use the keyboard.

If you have a PS2 or Xbox controller, I heard that you can buy a USB adaptor for it and its only like $5. Can anyone confirm that?

I'm not sure on the price but yea you can do that (Y)

It's cheaper, but I wouldn't say better. Freestyle with the keyboard is very limited, Freestyle Air won't be easy and the dunk contest will be virtually impossible.

Definetely get a control pad, keyboard makes freestyle very limited. And a control pad is just so much easier to use.

I'm currently using a Nostromo, which you can usually pick up for $20 australian dollars.

This would be a good idea too... I have PS2 and I can save money... I bought an adapter for $10. (that's USD)

I have a Gravis Elminator and that works fine. I've always liked the PS controllers tho... (better design and feel..) I've ordered the PS2/PS converter from the website: http://www.scorptec.com.au/index.php?prdid=00011199 and will pick it up and pay this weekend... It has 2 ports for PS controllers in 1 USB connection... I've read some reviews and they seem good. I'll let you know how it goes after the weekend. $39 aussie dollars...hmmm a bit more than the US$10, but at least u can connect 2 controllers...

Good choice. That's what I have too and had it for almost a year, and I love it. I once had a Logitech and a Gravis, but they gave me problems.

I'm thinking to order this pad...

what do you guys think?
it's $37 dollars

Well, I'd say go with the Thrustmaster pad instead. It's at least 20 bucks cheaper (yes, even the one with FF) and has the layout of the PS2 pad (4 face buttons, 4 shoulder buttons) which IMHO allows for more button combinations, plus 2 additional buttons at the bottom side of the controller which you can trigger with your middle- or indexfinger, whichever you prefer. I got my turbo button on one of those, for example, which allows me to use the shoulder- and face-buttons while pressing turbo.

Yep. 12 buttons in total:
4 face buttons
4 should buttons
2 buttons at the bottom of the pad
2 stick buttons (one on each analog stick, press the stick down)

Plus the 2 analog sticks and the digital movement thingie you can use for quickplays (or for movement, if you prefer it to the left analog stick).

my adapter only cost me 10 bucks and it has two ps2 controller port and one usb connection. I bought it two years ago when live 03 came out.

Thu Sep 30, 2004 7:25 am

where u get it from eddy?

Thu Sep 30, 2004 4:16 pm

Hmmm... I picked up my adapter today and plugged in my 2 ps controllers.... Now Live 04 is running in slow motion... Its like bullet time all the time in the game...Menus are the same (Can tell from the background images)... I rebooted a couple of times and the same thing happened. I then tried removing the USB device before bootup and then plugging it in after Win loaded and Live and it worked as normal with the PS controllers... I dont wanna be plugging it in and out each time I play... any ideas anyone?.. (PS I have a reasonable PC 2.6 processor, 9800 AIW radeon and have had no probs with Live previously...)
