Remember all the videos are played with Computer AI. No one is controlling the offense or defense on each team. Its the CPU AI.

These are more recent (9/26)

These videos were alot better. I liked the Denver-Utah game. I did see that cheap little 2 foot shot by Boozer though :( I hate that's still in the game. The multiplayer dunk contest thing is nice. It seems like it will be the most popular mode. The 3 point contest was nice. If you just shoot the same way with the perfect release, you will make the shot every time. Only 2 more days!!!!!!!!!!!

SbHZmAFiA, i would have thought FOR SURE, you wouldve said something about Jwill's lane congested dunk. I know he can dunk but its usually fast break.. although he did lay a facial on Mario Elie while with the kings...

its looking good though/

There were lots of block shots in the gamplay videos, something I think needs to be fixed.

Another thing is like in the toher 76er videos with kenny thomas leading the fastbreak this time in the Utah-Denver game Okur was leading the fastbreak. I liked the head-to-head dunk contest mode though.

I liked that Sprewell dunk, it looked like he grabbed his balls

I like these videos too but the one thing i dont like about them is there is not alot of dunks
I know that in real life that they dont dunk all the time but i would of liked to have seen a few more of them

Yea, I forgot about that lol...Jwill hasn't dunked on the Grizzlies for awhile now and I didn't think they should've showed him dunking in traffic like that. I could understand if it was on a fastbreak by himself

I noticed JWill's dunk in traffic too, but I sort of liked it so I didn't mind. :D

I have one big issue with the ingame movies.

I read that this year´s version would be more realistic in terms of spacing, 10-man offense and stuff and that the mid-range jumper would be an essential part of the game again. when I first heard about that I thought that may be the biggest improvement this year in regard to the long-time motivation to play the game.
but watching the vids made me come down to earth again. i didn´t see a single open jumper. I am aware that it was all cpu-controlled but that´s even more an argument that it should´ve shown the improved gameplay. maybe even 10-man offense is imroved, but the cpu-defense ai is pretty unrealistic i.m.o.

the biggest flaw is that no matter who is beeing guarded, as soon as the offensive player crosses the half-court line the defensive player is right in his face. every player in possession of the ball has his defender right on his foot (even players like andre miller or jason kidd). for all those who play or watch bball you know that this is pretty unrealistic.
I would love to have an a.i. where the defense adjusts to the strenghts weaknesses of a player/team.

players with a weak shot but a good penatration should be given much space, when they happen to have a good shooting night they should be guarded more closely. players who can score with the j and the drive like jordan or bryant should be guarded according to their style of play they have shown during the game. for example giving him the outside shot early on, if he makes them guarding more closely with other players looking out and helping if he drives. and if he has an off-night from the outside trying to avoid the penetration.

what do you think?

Those are exactly my thoughts too.

The risk/reward factor of defending a player tight to prevent the shot or giving him room to prevent the drive hasn't been ported over to the game. To me, it's one of the core fundamentals of man-defense; defensive spacing.

I'd love to see the CPU react to how much space I give it on defense. Say if i'm guarding Marbury, i'd give him more room and bait him into the jumper. And if he's hot that night, i'd play him a little closer to take away the shot ... at the risk of making it more easier for him to get to the hoop. Risk/reward.

Then throw in defensive ratings into the mix. Good defenders should be able to react quicker and move more freely on defense, so you can afford to play Starbury a little closer. But a bad defender who moves like a mule on D would have to give more space to react.

It's what makes players like Kobe and Tmac so dangerous in real life, they can get to the hoop if you play them too close, but they're long enough to shoot right over you if play them for the drive. This should be translated into the game.

Great vids by the way. Did you seek the fake Boozer threw before the that turnaround? Awesome stuff.

The risk/reward factor

Then throw in defensive ratings into the mix.

good points. i hope that stuff like that will soon be transferred into live because this would add a lot to the realism and therefore fun of the live series. there´s no point (at least for me) trying to break through to the hoop all the time and making the offense a freestyle-controle competition.

i want to see that the defender will give the offensive player the open shot here and then but adjusting if the player is getting hot.

maybe my impression of the vid´s is not representing what the game is really like.
:?: could some of those lucky bastards that have already played live 05 comment on that issue please?
