stats look good but of course, where is KG and Duncan? Kobe? Tmac? Yao?
maybe they got traded or got hurt

the only reason these guys always start the all star game is cause the fans vote for them. in a game the starts and bench are all based on stats so a guy like brad miller can easily make the all star game starting lineup. looks at his numbers, thats all star worthy. i mean in the real nba shaq should have started last 2 seasons but the fans gave yao the starting spot though he didnt really deserve it.
basicly, i hate the fact that the fans are allowed to vote for the all star game. they always vote people in who have not earned it.

Vince Carter hasn't earned it for the past two years and yet he gets the most votes. The All-Star votes are based strictly on popularity to most people which is why the starters basically never change, they are the most popular players.

yeah and its sad really. i mean this is the all star game not the all popular player contest.

Looking through some of those screenshots, I wonder who Washington traded for the Bobcats #1 pick... judging by the trade AI in the game it was probably Brendan Haywood or somethin

So true, they should definitely take the control away from the fans. People say that it would be unfair to do so, but the fans usually have NO CLUE.
How 'bout the year they voted in an injured Zo and Hill? Some say that it doesn't matter because it's just a fun game for the fans, but it does matter. Don't they always look back on a player's career and count his All-Star appearances?

i think the league should change it for a year and have the fans vote for the reserves...let the coaches vote in the starters then you'll really see a varied allstar game cos no doubt in my mind vc wouldnt get the starting role for the east....but alas its all a marketing ploy for the league to get more money...thats why the fans get to vote.
SIDE NOTE: players seem to care more about making an allstar team rather than the Olympic team. Dont get me wrong i know that some had security concerns, but if there is ever going to be a target at the Olympic games for terrorism it'd be the opening ceremony.
p.s. sorry to drag the topic down and go off on a tangent.

If EA add in a program that collects who has most dunks and winning shots. then cpu can decide which players are picked for all star. usualy good stats, and good impression makes all stars. right? what do you think. I wish i can get a job in R&D area.

with the amount of money the nba makes from the fans its only fair they get to choose. hopefully someday the fans can take part in selecting dunkers for the slam dunk competition.

exactly dre. when a player retires they always say how many all star games he has played in or started. when a fan votes a guy in who did not deserve it this kinda taints that stat imo.
saw another post that talked about all the money the nba makes from its fans and thats why they should have a say, well every sport make thier money from the fans and they dont go letting the fans vote in players who dont belong there.

I think the only reason why the NBA lets the fans vote is that they want to win popularity. By letting the fans pick the All-Star starters, the NBA probably thinks that the fans will like the NBA more because they will feel like they have a saying in this league. I can understand it somehow, but I also hate it. The fans take advantage off it by voting for players they personaly like and leave out the players that really should start the game, this has happend before and will probably happen again.
I think it would be more fun to watch the coaches select the players that deserve to start the All-Star game.

got no probs with fans making the selections.

Exactly, the coaches know who deserves it because they have a clue about what's going on in the league. I bet half the people that vote for Carter didn't even know he was injured last season. Don't get me wrong, a lot of the players in there do deserve it. But letting the coaches pick would be a nice change.
