If Andrew makes a retro roster, which season should he base it on?

Andrew's Live 2005 retro roster

Tue Sep 21, 2004 9:47 pm

I assume that along with NBA Live 2005 Andrew will make a retro roster, like the 95-96 season he did for Live 2004.

As Live 2005 will mark the 10th birthday of the series, I suggest that Andrew make a 94-95 roster, like the one available on NBA Live 95! :D That was a great season, with Houston winning surprisingly the Championship

I'd like to know your opinion on it guys, but at the end, it's up to Andrew! :D

Because of the inclusion of Toronto and Vancouver/Memphis, and now Charlotte...retro rosters might not work..Well of course, there are ways around this, like make a few custom teams, but that's kind of weird...We'll see..

I'm gonna be working on graphics for the roster....personally i'd love have all those seasons in there..but its up to andrew.

If Andrew decides to make 94 or 95 roster set, then i think it's better to have the rookie packages for the years 96~2004 rather than having to create 10 separate roster sets

Just so if anyone cares, I will be making a legends roster like the one I made for Live 2000...containing the all-stars from each era from the 50's until the 2000's...so if anyone is interested in helping out...

I don't remember what season it was (92-93 or 93-94) but my favorite season of all-time was when the Bulls played the Suns in the NBA finals. Barkley vs Jordan. That was a fun series.

the 95/96 season.....yah feel me?

One of the seasons where Seattle had Kemp and Payton as a great 1-2 punch. :P :P

Pistons BADBOYS!!! 88-89

The problem would then be there are too few players from that year that are still playing. (i.e. too many cyberfaces are needed)

I think that Andrew is going to convert this years retro to NBA Live 2005. So I'd like to see 97/98.

I know it's pretty recent and all, and it's not even on the poll as a choice but... 98/99. It marked the first year of MJ's absense, and the title was up for grabs. It was also the lockout year. Vince Carter and Jason Williams blew up and provided some amazing highlights. And as a huge Kings fan, this was the year that Sacto actually became good, which would eventually lead to the best recent rivalry (Kings Vs. Lakers) :D. I guess I'm just partial to this year because I have so many great memories from it. Anyone else feelin' this year?

Wed Sep 22, 2004 2:07 pm

99/00!!!! Lakers win!!

Wed Sep 22, 2004 5:07 pm

I'd like to start with 95/96 again, but start earlier so it's out earlier and I can work on some others. The addition of the Bobcats, Raptors and Grizzlies post 94/95 make it difficult; we'll need to edit the schedule.

Mon Sep 27, 2004 2:02 am

1972-1973 !! :p

I prefer 1992-1993 or 1993-1994, but whatever you can do Andrew, Y-Biggreen, and others ... I'll be happy with any retroroster you come up with.

Thanks in advance !

hi,
I am working on retro/vintage NBA rosters for NBA Live 2005 PC version. I guess I am finished with all the work at thursday or friday next week.

currently I am doing rosters for following seasons:
-) NBA 1951/52... George Mikan and the Minneapolis Lakers, the Celtics led by Cousy/Sharman etc.
-) NBA 1961/62... Wilt Chamberlains sensational 50 plus points season, Oscar Robertson got a triple double for the entire season etc.
-) NBA 1966/67... the legendary 76ers season. Chamberlains won his first NBA title.
-) NBA 1971/72... a lot of fantastic teams as example the Milwaukee Bucks with Lew Alcindor and Big O as well as the Lakers with Chamberlain and Jerry West...
-) ABA 1971/72... Rick Barry vs. Julius Erving. what else can I say?
-) NBA 1984/85... Jordans RC season.
-) NBA 1991/92... the legendary Chicago Bulls led by MJ

I just got one big problem. maybe you can help me out there.
I have deleted the NBA teams, which haven`t exist in the above mentioned NBA season rosters.
unfortunatly NBA Live 2005 got a big bug. NBA Live 2005 allows playing all the vintage NBA teams in the "play now mode", but doesn`t allow an entire season in "season mode".... because there aren`t 30 NBA teams.

as example: I got 17 vintage NBA teams for the 1971/72 season. that`s why I have deleted 13 current NBA teams.
I tried to play a "custom" season in the "season mode" with those 17 vintage NBA teams. but it doesn`t work. the CPU wants me to insert all 30 NBA teams. that`s a shame.
do you know how to handle that problem?
regards, Pat

Sun Dec 12, 2004 6:58 pm

My suggestion would be to leave the remaining teams spare with placeholder players all rated 30 overall but edit the schedule so that they do not play any games.

Mon Dec 13, 2004 2:25 am

@Andrew
a couple of years ago I tried it that way with NBA Live 2001. I edited the "scheduleseason.dbf" file and put it into the specific rosters patch in my saves file.
anyway the CPU didn´t react on it. it took the original "scheduleseason.dbf" from the "originaldb" file.
that`s indeed a problem if I forward the rosters to friends, who want to play with it. none of them has updated their original "scheduleseason.dbf".
I guess most of them don`t want to do it anyway, because they get in troubles if the play a current 2004-05 NBA season later.... you know the original dbf is corrupted at that time.

what do you think about that idea: shall I restore the deleted NBA teams and put dummys into them as you mentioned it?
if I play an vintage NBA season in "season mode" I can simulate all the games with those "dummy NBA teams", which I guess will be won by my vintage NBA teams. I just play games versus the right vintage NBA teams.

I also can rename those teams to "dummy teams" to distinguish them from the right vintage NBA teams. I also can name the players "dummy1, dummy2, dummy3..." and so on with minor player ratings.

what do you thing about that idea?

Mon Dec 13, 2004 7:22 pm

That's a good point. Adding "dummy" teams and players would probably be the best possible solution.

Tue Dec 14, 2004 5:35 am

i gotta go wit 94/95

Sun Dec 19, 2004 5:35 am

@Andrew
I just finished all the mentioned vintage NBA rosters.
could you pls check out if following link works and everything is fine with downloading the patches?
http://www.geocities.com/shawnrespert/N ... sters.html

If it works, link the page to the Series Centers NBA Live 2005 rosters patch. so others can download them.
thx, Pat :)

Sun Dec 19, 2004 6:57 pm

Tried downloading them, but could only get a couple before the site became unavailable. If you like, I could host them for you on the NLSC so you could avoid Geocities' bandwidth restrictions.
