NBA Live 2005 News: Corrections & Clarifications

Tue Jul 20, 2004 12:15 am

Once again, taken from what I've posted on the main site:

Andrew wrote:Some more info that I've been handed: the reason that regular 5-on-5 play will not feature all of the jumpshot styles that are available in the three point contest is memory constraints. There will be some signature jumpshots available in 5-on-5 play.

A correction from yesterday: the Dunk Contest will contain over 20,000 dunks. Regular gameplay will not have that many but will still feature a wide array of slams ranging from basic dunks to highlight reel jams.

Also, just in case you haven't already heard, the Creation Zone is a feature that was on an early fact sheet that was accidently released by a non-EA website. NBA Live 2005 will not have this feature, but Create-a-Player will still be available.

Finally, a tidbit for long-time NBA Live fans: the "Key Players of the Half" feature will be returning this year. :)

Thanks for the info Andrew.

Any news on multi-player dynasty?

Nothing yet, but as soon as I hear something I'll let everyone know. (Y)

Again, posted on the main page and again here:

Andrew wrote:I've been able to track down the answers to a couple of burning questions about NBA Live 2005. The game will have gameplay sliders, but unfortunately we won't be able to select multiple teams in Dynasty Mode this year. Still, I think we have plenty to look forward to later this year.

Tue Jul 20, 2004 1:18 am

Thats still good I guess...Can you ask if we will have a switch teams option at the end of the season(Like in 2003) or if the cpu will offer you dynasty points(Like in 2004), or if it will have both?

Tue Jul 20, 2004 2:10 am

Thanks Andrew,
too bad about not having multiplayer dynasty--but man--dynasty mode looks like it'll be fun! With All Star weekend, new FA logic, real money--I think i'll live.

Wow Andrew. You're full of information recently.

Tue Jul 20, 2004 4:43 am

all this info is great. :D

They mentioned memory issues where it comes to jumpshots.. i can understand that. However, being that the average pc now has atleast 128mb of memory..as compared to 32mb on the consoles...maybe they could implement all the jumpshot styles on the pc version.

Imo..the consoles are holding us pc gamers back.
:?

But a console is nothing but a cheaper computer that you can plug into your TV with less features...

Tue Jul 20, 2004 5:00 am

thanks im liking the halftime thing, although, i dont remember it :o

That's what the Best Buy folks told me when I bought my GameCube in 2002 for $150....stupid price drop

NBA Live 2005....will it be better than ESPN NBA 2K5??
Sure seems as of right now that it will in fact be a better game (Y)

I'm not going to buy anymore NBA Lives for the PC now, my PC is getting too old, but it's only a Dell from 2001...hmm... ...If I'm gonna buy any sports game from now on...it will be on the PS2.
I do need a good, affordable (key word there) graphics card if I were to be able to play Live 2005 on my PC...

This a Big Question over at ign that we can't answer so here it is.

Since both Rookie vs Soph. and All Star game are actual playable modes is it sort of a pick up mode or is it just like last year where u get same All Stars from Last Years All Star Break. We are hoping its like the dunk contest where you get pick certain plp out of a list. If its not like this then this mode is completely point less and shouldn't be included asa game mode.

I just want to know will there be a street pick up mode. { Also are there more courts}

Is the arcade/ action feature compiled with more arcade type of things like crazy dunks.[ doesn't have to be like the dunk contest]

All-star game usually features the previous year's all-stars. It should probably be the same with the rookie-sophmore. I dont think the general 'pick up and play' gamer has the time to pick EVERY player on TWO rosters just to play a game. Thats the whole point to the "quick play" option...to play quickly.

I'll try to find out as much as I can but obviously members of the production team can't say too much at this time. I will have a chance to ask more questions in the not too distant future. ;)

Actually, ask if there will be a demo.

Please, ask something about camera angles as well :P

Sorry...what's the "key players of the half" feature?

I played live 97,98,99,00,01 and 04...but I don't recall it...

It's very similar to the Player of the Game, only it shows the top performers for both teams at halftime. It's a small detail, but it's a nice touch (one that will give Live 2005 a bit of a retro feel).
