I'd like to know whether the Mavs have an alternate jersey in the game and if they do, what does it look like? P Diddy is supposed to design a new alternate jersey for them, but I haven't found any info on it so far, so I thought maybe "it's in the game". :D

This question is slightly answered by the training camps actually working, but how is the player improvement, like is it random like last year or does it rely on how you train the players or wether you give them too many or too little minutes.

Plus when your new to the game and losing quite a lot like on All Star is it still possible to get good stats??

I love NBA LIVE series (except 2003). I'm playing for years now with my best friend, human Vs human. I live in France, can't wait that long !!! Give me something plz...
I have some questions I hope you'll answer :

 Is there too many fouls near the rim ?
Is it too easy to get a foul and go to the FT line when you found a way to the rim ?

 Or is it possible to challenge a shot, layup, dunk whithout being called with a foul or doing a monster block ?
In live 2004, when you had a good defender like Shaq, it was too easy to block a dunk or a layup.

 Is it possible to perform a "In your face" jam ?
Or will there be a foul, or a block...? I miss those high altitude battles.

 Are the adjusted dunks, layups, still the sames ?
Is it just a throw toward the basket while you're in the air ? Or is it more realistic like changing your ball handling arm or/and do a windmill lay up behind the board a la Jordan ?

 Did you see some of these actions ? Some that made you jumped from your seat and scream as if you saw a beautiful action on TV ?

 Is there different kinds of shots for the three pointers ?
In the 2004, guys like R. Wallace, Hill, (Centers and PF) from the 3pt line, made a ridiculous and unrealistic gesture to shoot. Is there something more realistic ? :?

 Can you make a behind the back pass ?
or a No-look pass or a fake ?

 How are the Cut scenes ?
Is there any before you go to the FT line ? Are they realistic (TV like ?)

 What is the most annoying thing ?
Something you really don't like at all. (like my everlasting post...hum... )

That will be it...for now.
Thanks to everyone who will answer my questions.

This is the best site ever !

 No, there are not too many fouls near the rim. You can adjust sliders for that anyways. The in air animations are much better and there are probably like 5 times as many. They don't seem to get real repetitive.

 Yes you can challenge a lay up or dunk with no foul called, and also sometimes with a foul. Sometimes the CPU adjusts their shot and make a wild layup. You can't just stand there and block shots.

 No real in-your-face jams. The collision detection still needs some tweaking, as the CPU players manage to backup in mid-air. They don't always block your shot or foul you.

 There are no adjusted dunks. Adjusted layups are alot different this year. There is a wider variety of them. Even jumpshots too. If the cpu gets you in the air, he will sometimes drive through your legs or jump into for a clutch jumpshot. It looks very realistic. I've seen reverse double clutch layups, and it's also possible to adjust to an up-and-under layup.

 Rafer Alston draining a 3 in Hughes' face with one minute to go. A t-mac double pump reverse layup-and1.

 There are new jumpshot styles, quicker this time for big men. It's easier to get the timing down. The standard shooting form this year looks more NBA like, with the player taking a hop step back after shooting.

 You can't do a fake pass, but there are no-looks and dump offs. You execute them by passing out of the pro hop.

 There are hardly any cut-scenes, about as many as last year. They are better imo, the players look better. Sometimes they don't focus as much on 1 particular player, but more on a team at the beginning of the game.

 Honestly, the most annoying thing is your everlasting post. This took 20 minutes out of my life. J/k. What pisses me off the most is that EA manages to incorporate one of the best features in all-star weekend but fucks it up. There are no sliders for the All-Star game or Rookie game, so as a result the CPU never subs because fatigue is on 0. Overall there isn't anything I can think of that is real buggy.

I play on superstar for PS2 and i can barely get 2 the basket or hit open J's Any suggestions?

I use the pick and roll to get open. The best way imo to figure out what your release point should be is to do the 3 point contest, and the more you make, the better your release is.

Player Stat/Rating Progression ?

Wed Oct 27, 2004 2:59 pm

In Franchise mode do players only get better in the offseason during the training period..or do you see a players ratings improve over a year...
say you use a guy like lebron to jack up threes all season long and at the end of it his 3pt% is higher than the prev season..does his 3pt fg rating go up ??

that would put an interesting spin on things imo...you could really build a team around your style of playing ball.

Sun Oct 31, 2004 6:30 pm

Do the big men in 05 dominate? I remember in past Lives Derek Fisher would score 32 and Shaq and Kobe combine for that much all the time. Is that fixed?

Tue Nov 02, 2004 3:38 am

i think live 2005 is more of a shooter's game.. its really hard to post up...

mike879 wrote:i think live 2005 is more of a shooter's game.. its really hard to post up...

For me, it's the opposite. The big man now has all the room to make post moves and score or have good position to score. It's really annoying when the guards try to get a jumperoff and ends up getting his shot unrealistically blocked.

Tue Nov 02, 2004 10:48 am

I think for some guys it's just the learning curve. Guys play the game and say "post game is too hard" or "my players get blocked too much" but the way I play it's just not like that. I've been practicing the post game, and I'm pretty good at it. Lamar Odom is usually my key player at the half because I go to him so much, because I've gotten so good with the post work and when and when not to shoot. I don't get blocked a lot on jumpers, maybe it's because I run off of picks or I fade or I make some space with freestyle first.

Tue Nov 02, 2004 2:24 pm

the post game defintiely stands out more. I do feel the shooting can make or break a close game though. I do like the play down low though very realistic at times

Couple of questions from a perturbed NBA 2K5 player sick of shooting 2 free throws during a 12-minute game....really want to get this game for my PC but i need some answers first!!!!!!

1. The main thing holding me back from buying this game is the talk of too many blocked shots. Last year, seemed if your defender was as tall (or taller) as the guy shooting the ball, it would get smacked back in his face.....and I'm talking every single time whenever I boke down, pulled up and shot over my man. For instance, it didn't matter if I was Kobe Bryant or Mark Bryant, whenever I did a two-dribble pull-up J, the defender would almost always recover and block my mid-ranger with ease.

Does this problem still exist in this game? Or is it just too many blocks around the hoop? I could deal with that, but honestly, how many jump shots do you see blocked in a game? I should be able to create space with the T-Macs and Bryants.

2. I've heard some complaints about camera angles. The only angle I play on, Press Box, is what I'm concerned about. Is it still in the game?

3. I've heard conflicting reports about "teams playing like they do in real life" and "stars playing like stars." This was a problem last year. If I play the Lakers, is Kobe going to shoot 10 times or 30 times? Is there a randomness? Please tell me Devean George isn't going to take 30 shots a game!!! Do the Rockets run clear outs for T-Mac? Does Yao get isolated on the post? Do the Mavs/Kings run and gun? Does Webber shoot mid-rangers? Does KG actually touch the ball more than once every five possessions this year?

4. Last question: Off the ball animations. Do players actually set picks this year? This is one of the things that 2K5 seems to get. Would I be able to run Richard Hamilton off some screens, or do the screeners simply "brush" the defenders. I like to get my man open!

If anybody can answer these questions truthfully, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thank you for your time.......

 well, in my experience in live05, the blocking party doesn't recover that fast now... though they can still block hook shots... maybe choosing your shots would be best at this point.

2. I've heard some complaints about camera angles. The only angle I play on, Press Box, is what I'm concerned about. Is it still in the game?

 press box is still in... im using it... though we have many more options like baseline high, baseline low, center court etc.

Do the Rockets run clear outs for T-Mac? we still got the default "dynamic" as offensive play for each team. you may wish to change the plays during the game. one thing i like about live 05 is that players take open jumpers now... they even make a drive and pops for a mid range jumper

4. Last question: Off the ball animations. Do players actually set picks this year? This is one of the things that 2K5 seems to get. Would I be able to run Richard Hamilton off some screens, or do the screeners simply "brush" the defenders. I like to get my man open!

 off ball is still good at live... i dont know bout 2K5 havent tried it. timing is important plus the setup of the play. you can also mix the off ball with some freestyle to get your man open. i usually do a pick and turn going to the basket for Tmac. Or have an open jumper. :D

If anybody can answer these questions truthfully, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thank you for your time.......

:D :D :D anybody just add in... thanks! i hope i satisfied ur questions :P

Hi, I have a couple questions. First in dynasty mode, WHen it comes to signing free agents... if Im over the cap , can I Resign my own players in the FREEAGENT signing window, not the resigning section. Also, When you are over the cap, what kind of contracts can you offer to players? What is considered the minimum ? Is there like an exception you can offer players? Thanks in advance
