I'm right there with you my brother! But damn, why is there this innate need to CHOOSE with SOME people (shoshoshosho)? I'll just buy both, and when I get sick of Live I'll pop in the inferior 2K5.......Relax, sho, relax, I typed that just for you!

Here's a new movie.

It looks like the post games been improved, by the fact that now it actually exists. The dunks look much better than last years. Overall, it loks like ESPN's heading back in the right direction.

Also, for those dweebs complaining about Tayshaun Prince's 90s hairdo, it's been fixed as you can tell in the screen with Big Ben and Brad Miller.

I know what you mean brother.

I love both. I mean if they were both the same price id buy live for sure.
If 2k5 is also very good and real cheaper why not get that also.

live will rule because of the all star weekend.

It would be even in my opinion if live did not have all start weekend though.

Is that the best you could do? They look shiny because they're sweating. That's usually how players look when they perspirate.

Yao's face? Oh, cry about it...

The only problemd I saw was Tayshaun's arm is kinda big for Tayshaun, then their's Live who has Ben Wallace's arm too small/not muscular enough, everyone has the body model mishaps I guess.
Also the obvious one of the basket being a little to big in comparison to the ball, the ball looks like a volleyball, but that should be fixed, it better be at least

There's one mode that lets you edit the combinations, so I just change the 4-button combos to 2-button. Either way, that game's gameplay kicks the ass of both Live and ESPN NBA.

I play that mode with my lil bro, but he makes the combo's too easy, and I just have to wait till he misses once, and put a harder combo lol.

I can't beat all the dunk challanges though because it's way to hard, Live did a pretty good job on the dunk contest.

I made NBA teams in College Hoops, and I turned off 5 seconds closely guarded in one of my settings to make it like the NBA. I only have the Raptors, Clippers, Heat, Timberwolves, and Spurs though. The post game is still a little weak, so Shaq doesn't dominate as he should :?, he's still killer though.

The gameplay is good, but it has it's own problems, I wish they added seperate shoot/dunk|layup buttons so your guys don't sometimes do those stupid shots when they're under the basket.
I used the sliders on the not oft visited College Hoops board, but unless you play [forgot the name of the mode] where you control only one guy, you get mad FG% [55+%], and the comp can't even touch you.
Also their's minor problems like anyone with a 60 or 65+ dunk rating can do some mad dunks lol, and many more, but I love that game :D

Gameplay will be the determining factor though, next week = gameplay.

As I said earlier, the improvements and impressive previews of each game really only threaten the other title for people who waver between the two. For hardcore NBA Live fans who prefer that series and are familiar with it, the ESPN previews won't really threaten their fanatacism. The same goes for ESPN fans.

People convert every year. It happend with football this year with many Madden fans switching to ESPN. But I do agree that it most likely won't be previews that will convert an EA fanboy to ESPN -- it's the $20 price tag.

To put it simply: ESPN wins hands down when it comes to screenshots, but when it comes to the actual game where you are playing hands on... I'm betting my life savings on NBA Live.

Indeed, there certainly are people who will try the other series and decide they prefer it. But there are a lot of people (myself included) who like and prefer one series because it suits their tastes and they aren't really swayed by the opposition.

I don't know if the $20 price tag will convert so many people as it will simply encourage them to buy both games. Whether they then decide to discard the NBA Live series isn't guaranteed.

I think sega knows this. The 20 bucks scheme was just so loyal ea fans try their products.. I dont think espn really thinks they can convert ea's support base.

There's less "loyal" EA fans out there than you think. In the past year, gamers just looking to buy a basketball game would pick up Live, probably because they recognize the name "Live" better. Now, they'll go to the store, see two basketball games. Look at the back of both and see that one's graphics are absolutely ridiculous, then find out that it's only $20, and buy it, leaving Live on the shelf.

You live in a dreamword. Live will get more sales becuase of: 1) It's for pc, while espn isnt, and 2) Live has the superior reputation, despite what gamespot and ign says. Live has better graphics. The only years it didnt was 2001 and 2003. And live doesn't have ridiculous graphics, although espn does have better. Gamers don't look for just graphics. And with the $20 price tag, chances are people will buy both.

Let's not go into the fact that Live is also on PC, because even if you're just restricting it to console, Live has still outsold ESPN. And I wouldn't necessarily say Live has the superior reputation, because even last year with ESPN's gameplay at a low, it still received better reviews.

You're the one living in the dream world if you can actually say, with zero bias, that Live had superior graphics in 2004 and especially 2002.(NBA 2K2 is still the greatest basketball video game of all time. All it needs is some sliders and they can release that and call it NBA 2K5)

It's a fact that the names Live and Madden sell better. EA does a better job at marketing their games, providing more eye candy for the buyer.

Much like how there's swing-voters, their's also swing-gamers. A $20 price tag will definitely attract a gamer whose looking to buy a basketball game -- any basketball game -- for 2005. It's happend with ESPN NFL, and I bet it can happen with ESPN NBA.

Yeah, I was kind of worried seeing how shiny they are, but they might not even be noticable but rather enhance the graphics when the players are in motion. We'll see how well the "shiny" effect works when the game comes out.
