Shouldn't all the FAs (and likely FAs - Nick Van Exel, Michael Finley, Allan Houston) go into the FA pool?

Channing Frye:
FG to 66
OReb to 50
DReb to 60
OAware to 63
DAware to 62
Range to 20

Nate Robinson:
As mentioned before, dunking to 70
Range to 25

Fran Vazquez:
I've never seen him play before, but I've heard that he's pretty much an NBA ready rebounder/defensive big man down low with a limited offensive arsenal. His offense is supposedly mostly mid-ranged jumpers (up range to 18) and tips.

Martell Webster:
FG to 76
Jumping to 70
Dribbling to 60
Hardiness to 45 (ankle problems)
Fatigue to 40
Much darker skin, very little hair.

Jarrett Jack:
Aforementioned 3 pt rating to 64
Dunking to 65
Inside scoring to 66 (great finisher)
OAware to 66
DAware to 70 (superb defender)
Fatigue to 65
Darker skin.

Francisco Garcia:
OAware to 68
DAware to 65
Strength to 41
Rest is good (Y).

Johan Petro:
I've seen limited clips of him, but you should up his block rating (a lot, probably around 64) and athletics.

Charlie Villanueva:
Great job (Y). Two things: PF/C (more likely to play C after Mitchell's comments than SF) and range to 23.

Joey Graham:
FG to 72
As others have mentioned, 3 pt shot to 62
Block to 25
Ball handling to 50
DAware to 70 (tough defender)
Quickness to mid 70s
Jumping to 85
Dribbling to 56
Body Size - Thick
Muscle Texture - Muscular (this guy is ripped like no other)

Deron Williams:
Dunking to 50
Inside Scoring to 51
DAware to 72
Jumping to 65-70
Strength to 54 (about same strength as Jack)

Edit (7/10): I actually don't know what position Warrick will play anymore. It makes more sense to play him at PF, because they don't have much depth up front. On the wings, they have Dahntay Jones, Battier, Miller, Posey. PF/SF.

Great work Andrew. I don't mean to be critical, but I'm just trying to make this even better :). The biggest problem was most of the HSer's had some sensational fatigue ratings, while the college players were rated lower, which was odd.

Edit:
I have some more. I adjusted some of the rosters, but then I accidentally loaded the same file instead of saving it, so I lost that. But either way, some of the lineups need to be readjusted (Aaron McKie is so old and bad that he needs to be around the 10th/11th man, entire Lakers bench is messed up, Pietrus needs to be 7th man with Cheaney either on the IR or as the 12th man, etc).

Zarko Cabarkapa:
FG to 74
3 pt to 66
OAware to 59
Ball handling to 56 (he has nice handles)
Dribbling to 52
Fatigue to 40

Andris Biedrins:
Block to 65
Steals up 20 pts (quick hands)
OReb to 60
Inside scoring to 86 (everything is inside)
Fatigue to 40

Has annyone actually got the update to work in dynasty yet?

Mon Jul 04, 2005 6:46 pm

The only thing i can think of is the too many rookies part. EVerything else in there seems to be okay, all my other rosters work.

Mon Jul 04, 2005 6:58 pm

Yes, I do know about the Dynasty issue; I posted about it last night. I've checked 0405Final and 0405Opening, there shouldn't be any crashes there. It could be a matter of having too many rookies, that will be the next thing I try.

I'll have to ask for everyone's patience there though, I've just started a new fulltime job and won't be able to do much work through the week, but I'll do what I can. Thanks in advance for your understanding. (Y)

Thanks also for the suggestions. As I said, I anticipated I'd make some errors assigning the ratings so I really appreciate the input. :)

OReb to 60

Fatigue to 40

Inside to 86 ? Why ? this would make him one of the best inside players in the game lol and he averages like 3 points a game :|

Mon Jul 04, 2005 7:17 pm

i just noticed something, if you load the rosters from the menu, go to new dynasty, on the team selection menu, go back to the menu and it takes a considerable amount of time to reset the rosters. maybe there are just too many players or something.

Mon Jul 04, 2005 7:29 pm

Could be, I'll try to weed out some of the free agents who are unlikely to return.

i have an idea

Mon Jul 04, 2005 8:29 pm

First of all, thank you Andrew for the great job you do with thoses roster patches, i used them since a long time.

By using an editor (DB Comm....), i tried to delete some rookies, and i notice that there were a lot of players that were 2 times in the db. Perhaps it's ok (i just discover the db comm today), if yes i wanna know why.

I notice something else, when i tried to delete players in the game menu, it return to windows and an error box appears, it arrives when i delete for example T Braggs, and there are others but i don't remenber.

I hope it will help you andrew.

Sorry for my english, i'm from france.

Mon Jul 04, 2005 8:46 pm

There should be two entries for some players, as some players are also on All-Star teams, the Legends Pool, Decade All-Stars etc.

Mon Jul 04, 2005 9:02 pm

ok, thanks.

i've got an error with Kleiza too, and i wanted to do it again (to write the error, in forum) but this time i delete it successfuly, it's strange.
i do it for another player and the error was :
CODEBASE ERROR
Error #: -70
Error #: 91102
Reading file
dfile4...()
C:\DOC AND SETT\.....\DATABASE\WORKINGDB\FACES.DBF

i hope it can help you.

Mon Jul 04, 2005 9:40 pm

Really not sure what's going on there. Did the error occur after you tried to delete the players in DB Commander? If so, the file has probably been damaged.

Mon Jul 04, 2005 10:22 pm

no because i mad a save of the original db file (of the patch), and i tried with it too.

I've got an other question for you, how can i put some rookies u made to the previous patch?

Tue Jul 05, 2005 1:10 am

I crashed when i used the 0405Final to play dynasty.

Tue Jul 05, 2005 3:39 am

I tried moving all the players years experience up one year that didn't work either the gsme still crashes in dynasty

He does all his scoring inside. Everything is inside of 8 feet. But I guess if that makes him dominant (to counteract that, his FG is very low, but I don't know if that works), it could be lowered.

The following need darker skin:
Andrew Bynum
Chris Paul
Raymond Felton
Danny Granger
Marvin Williams
Hakim Warrick
Francisco Garcia (skin just a bit lighter than Jameer Nelson's)
Deron Williams (skin like Garcia, a little darker)

The following have a very little hair (just a thin layer all around):
Chris Paul
Marvin Williams (also needs to look longer, sort of like Josh Smith but with a bit more bulk)
Hakim Warrick
Rashad McCants
Deron Williams (much more hair than the others, but still needs less hair than he has now)

The following need thicker arms/body:
Sean May (not muscular, but much bigger arms)
Andrew Bynum (hips a bit smaller, arms a bit bigger)
Ike Diogu (wider body, a bit fatter, bigger arms)
Rashad McCants (more cut, bigger arms)
Francisco Garcia (bigger arms)
Nate Robinson (more bulk in the frame)
Danny Granger (arms)

The following need to be skinnier:
Hakim Warrick
Charlie Villanueva (well I'm not sure about skinnier, but he does look longer in real life)

Jarrett Jack:
A second correction on his quickness - he's quicker than Deron Williams, so high 70s.

Matt Carroll needs to be added to the Bobcats roster. He's a decent player, good shooter, not a great athlete. Probably the 10th man or so.

Is there some way to change the default defense for every team to half court man? Teams rarely play zone, only on occasion and not even half thet teams play zone.

Hii

My game crash with ALL 1.14 databases, with other database no problem (example 1.13).

Thanks for your work.

Tue Jul 05, 2005 12:31 pm

Andrew,

I am new to post, but I do believe there is a problem with the player-team allocation. There seem to be quite a few players (Stojakovic, Okafor, and Glen Rice to name a few) that are allocted within the same team ID as the Referee's. I have not yet been able to determine if this is the source of the Dynasty problem. Hope this helps.

lebron's dunk rating

Tue Jul 05, 2005 1:03 pm

how come king james dunk rating is only 85? u see him posterize centers?u see him do between the legs dunk in high skool? u see him fly? he can enter n beat josh smith in the dunk contest anytime

anywayz nice patch n keep on working at the patches if u hav time andrew

Tue Jul 05, 2005 7:43 pm

This isn't exactly the answer to the problems, but a temporary solution until v1.15 appears. I don't know 100% if it works, but it did for me.
1. Rename the NBA Live 2005 folder (the My Documents one) into something else (like NBA Live 2005 back-up)
2. Back-up the players.dbf, teams.dbf, appearence.dbf and teamgear.dbf from the original NBA Live 2005 folder (NBA LIVE 2005\database\Origdb)
3. Copy the players.dbf, teams.dbf, appearence.dbf and teamgear.dbf from NLSC0506 to NBA LIVE 2005\database\Origdb
4. Start the game
Now, in the game, you can save your Rosters like NLSC0506. Also you can copy the configs and the settings folders from the NBA Live 2005 back-up to NBA Live 2005 folder (the one in My Documents) and copy your dinasty/season folders if you want.

-----------------------------------------------------------------
Also, I have a litlle suggestions for andrew.
1. Set Gerald Green dunk rating to 90 (in the Dunk Contest, he gone between his legs -which was one the best dunks I ever seen- and hang in the rim - like VC in 2000, but much better in my opinion). He has a 42-43 inch vert jumping so you decide what jump rating he shoud have ( i suggest 90-92). Also, set his 3point to 73-75.
2. Wade block rating to 55 ( How do you thinck a guy at 6'4" can average over 1bpg in NBA????)
3. In Philadelphia lower everyone Primacy rating under 40. I know it disn't sound good, but even then Webber still averages 20 ppg and Iverson only 25ppg.
4. Rasheed 3point to 68-70
5. Brent Barry dunk to 40 ( i know he was in the dunk contest, but you don't see Vince having a 99 dunk rating which shoud had in 2000)
6. Ginobilli dribble to 90 (I dind't see many stop him)
7. I thinck Marvin Williams primary position is SF
8. Release Jamaal Mashburn and sign Louis Williams in Philadelphia
9. LeBron dunk rating to 90 ( I agree he isn't that good to diserve 95-98, but i thinck you have lowered to much. I saw him did a few nice windmills in games. Carmelo also has 85, but if you comapare them, you whill see the difference. Also, the dunk rating doesn't represent how spectacular a player dunks are, but how are the chances to make them (ex: Shaq-99). For more power dunks, you shoud change the dunckpack.

PS: Andrew, if you want to convince yourself about the 90 rating for Green, I can send you the McDonalds Dunk contest video.

First of all I want to thank Andrew for this roster patches. Well I found a way to easily change the experience years with DBF Navigator, but I think it could be made with any other program.
1. Select the YEARSEXP column of all the real rookies (Bogut, Williams, ...), right click on them and then in Formuls.
2. A window appears and in the text box you have to add -1 so the text will be [SelCell] -1, then click on Ok and all the rookies will have -1 on their YEARSEXP.
3. Select the YEARSEXP column of all the players and another time right click -> Formuls.
4. Now you have to add +1 so the text would be [SelCell]+1 and ok.

After that you have changed the experience years of all the players.

PD: The real rookies are at the end of the file starting in Bogut and the order is their draft order.

Just because he does all his scoring inside, it shouldn't warrant a 86 inside scoring rating :?

Tue Jul 05, 2005 10:39 pm

I did what Denied said (copy players.dbf, teams.dbf, appearence.dbf and teamgear.dbf to originaldb from nlsc0506).
So now my pc doesn't crash after the training, but rookies have same appearance.

I'm gonna add step by step the other files from nlsc0506, and i'll say here which file make the game crashed.

the files : faces.dbf is ok
accesorry.dbf is ok
names.dbf is ok
nicknames.dbf is ok
plays.dbf is good too

Wed Jul 06, 2005 12:04 am

Sorry, I forgot you have to copy and faces.dbf. Then that error whill not occur again.

It is not neccesary something wrong whit some file, but is something wrong whit how the game engine reads those files. I think if you take all the important files (appearence.dbf, players.dbf, teams.dbf, etc.) in this process, then save those rosters like NLSC0506, then those rosters whil work even an another computer.

Create them again yourself manually, basically.

shiva wrote:My game crash with ALL 1.14 databases, with other database no problem (example 1.13).

Actually I do know why the version of 0405Final distributed with the roster update would crash in v1.14. But it shouldn't be a problem for me to revert to the version from v1.13 if I need to copy the rookies over.

Nope, that's not the problem. I've been doing that for a while now, to keep retired players out of Dynasty Mode (or moving instances of places on All-Star teams out of the way to make room for new copies of players).

ken23lau wrote:how come king james dunk rating is only 85? u see him posterize centers?u see him do between the legs dunk in high skool? u see him fly? he can enter n beat josh smith in the dunk contest anytime

That's yet to be proven. Until he actually enters the dunk contest and shows a wider array of dunks I don't think he should be rated higher than a Josh Smith.

Thanks for the all the ratings suggestions, obviously my priority is getting the crash fixed first then I'll turn my attention back to the ratings and of course the transactions. In the meantime, I'm keeping a record of all ratings suggestions as I always do.

I FIND THE PROBLEM¡¡¡¡

i have copy file os 1.14 roster one of one, and one of this files is "bad". Is the only file that make crash the computer. this file is birthstate.dbf.
i dont known who is the utility of this file, but with all the others files, all is correct.

Put birthstate.dbf of the 1.13 database overwriting th 1.14 birthstate.dbf and ready for play¡¡
