On the subject of turnovers...

Do you still also get a turnover for blocking a shot out of bounds?

scouting is simular to the ncaa games sega makes... haven't gotten far enough to test drive future picks.

question: how many pda's did they say we could unlock again?

Basically, you have three scouts, and you can send each one out to scout 5 different players in one of three areas: Offense, Defense, or Athletics. Each player scouted costs 50 dynasty points, so usually you spend 250 with each full trip.

When the scout is done, you get letter grades (A+, C-, D, E etc) in the appropriate areas. You have to scout a lot, because when the draft comes, the ONLY info you get is what you scouted. And the letter grades are sometimes inaccurate.

I wish they could give some preliminary info, because I'm sure some GMs just read the sports pages to get basic info on guys.

This method is starting to grow on me though, because you get more realistic situations. There was a Late 1st Round Center with Good potential who's letter grades were so good that I really wanted him. But I had the Number One pick in the draft and didn't want anyone in the lottery. So I had to consider trying to trade down or even shocking the world by taking the Center. I ended up just taking the #1 pick guy and trading for the Center, but the situation was cool nonetheless.

Wow, scouting and drafting sounds cool this year :)

need the game!!

Tue Oct 05, 2004 9:47 am

Also, in the off-season training camps, is it still just cut-scenes?

Nope, it is not interactive what so ever now. You just choose the areas you want to work on, then the cpu sims and you get a message on your pda.

Yeah, the scouting is very neat and I love to do it but I probally won't be able to get the players I want.

I donno yet, but we will see eh!

Yes, but the good thing this year is that you can actually improve with out going down in rating.

Tue Oct 05, 2004 2:11 pm

phew... thats good, last years was pretty stupid how you would just train your players in one area and they would still decrease in ratings.
Scouting does sound pretty good, so they've gotten rid of the entire "Strength and Weakness" thing in the scouting report when you draft?
Is getting dynasty points the same as last year? if it is, then 50 points isn't that hard to get (like half a game), and you could probably scout quite effectively by sending scouts everyday or something...

One thing that bugged me in earlier versions, so I hope it is out - can you still forfeit draft picks? As far as I know, this is not possible in real-lige, especially since 1st-round-picks get guaranteed contracts.

Forfeiting a second-round pick is okay as they don't get guaranteed contracts in real-life either, but I sure hope you cannot forfeit first-round picks to save cap space.

Yes, you can still forfeit picks in the first and second round.

What about the rookies ratings in Dynasty mode, is it still to high or not ? I mean will the first pick will still be rated 75 ?

Wed Oct 06, 2004 3:10 am

are you finally able to get realistic scores when playing 12 minute quarters? ( with use of sliders of course )

Wed Oct 06, 2004 5:31 am

i got 4 questions and hopefully they can be answered easily.

1. "If you create a player with a name in the audio data base, not only will Marv say his name but the announcer when being introduced!" quote is from dre. my question is. does this also work on drafted rookies?

2. speaking of the draft and rookies, can we trade for draft picks anytime during the year? does the computer still refuse almost all trades involving draft picks even if it clearly benefits them?(like when you try to trade kg for a second round pick and they say no)

3. after you finish a game in dynasty mode does it auto sim to your next matchup? lets hope not.

4. i have read that it costs 50 points to scout a player. is that the same for all season lengths? will someone like me who only plays 29 games a season have enough points to scout enough players and still train my current ones?

Wed Oct 06, 2004 5:42 am

I can answer #2...I was worried that if it was as tight as last year it would be impossible to get a pick because you had to wait between offers.

But fortunately, the CPU seems a LOT looser this year in regards to draft picks. I've been offered a pick in December (or so) and have traded for picks in December and January.

It seems like it depends on when, all teams seem open to trade at different times.

Usually I'll be negotiating with someone, then at some point they start saying No because they're not interested in trading draft picks.

But it's not anywhere near as bad as last year.

Nope, you sim everyday even if you have a game ore not, i like this feature alot. The good thing about this is that you can get emails through your PDA on days where you have no games.

thanks god for answer 3. answer 2 sounds alot better so thats good. i always liked stockpileing draft picks so this will help.

when u sim games does the 6th man still only get 20 mins a game?

You could get realistic scores last year. Anyway, in 8 minute quarters on all-star i scored in the 60s and 70s.

Yes. The way I have it set, my scores range anywhere from 80 to 115, on average.

The computer, however, doesn't get many assists. That's the one thing I don't know how to fix with sliders. Maybe making them run a set offense will improve that, though.

I got 2 questions. In NBA live 2004, when you go for a dunk and the computer is about to block you, no matter how many times you press the dunk button again to change your shot, you are still going to get blocked because the computer does a weird about to get blocked animation. Is that fixed in 2005. Also when playing on All Star or Superstar, sometimes you miss alleyoops with the best dunkers when they are wide open. Is that fixed too?

The blocks in 2005 aren't nearly as annoying as last year. I know what you mean about the dunk blocks from last year. This year, your dunks can still get blocked, but it doesn't seem to happen as often and doesn't seem nearly as cheap. I haven't actually tried the shot adjustment thing in that situation, but I'm guessing that you can avoid blocks. Anyways, trust me when I say this isn't nearly as aggravating as last year.

I haven't done many alley-oops. I remember last year was annoying how wide-open alley-oops would always seem to miss, so I'm kind of hard-wired to not attempt many of them. But the ones I have tried have worked just fine when open. I've attempted a few in traffic, and those didn't work which is ok.

Just wondering anyone with the game is Carl English in it? Just wondering cause he just signed with the Supersonics.

Can somebody please list down all the available shoes in the NBA Store, or at least the new ones. Thanks.

If anybody have a list of the hidden shoes that would be great too.
