Talk about NBA Live 2005 here.

Thanks.
I also want to edit participating players for the All Star-challenge. How can I do this? I know how to apply players to the Western and Eastern Allstars.
There are rumours that Jason Kidd might be traded. He is currently listed as an Eastern All Star...what if he is traded to Dallas? Do they have to change the lineups or will he still start for the East?
But what about rookies and sophomores? The team-editing guide writes that both have the team ID 4.
And what about players for the 3point and dunk contest?
Thu Feb 14, 2008 9:02 am
yea..about that....how CAN those be edited anyway?
Thu Feb 14, 2008 9:13 am
There must be a way cause rookies, dunkers etc. are from last season, not from 2004/05.
Fri Feb 15, 2008 11:07 am
The procedure is the same editing the All-Star teams. The Rookies are team 44, the Sophomores are team 45. The value you were talking about is the TEAMCODE which you don't need to worry about.
The default dunkers are just the four players with the highest dunk ratings in the game, so that's easily changed. I've never found a way to change the default three point shootout contestants though.

Thanks.
There is this field threeptsty or something. It is the shooting style in 3pt-contest. Only a bunch of players have 12 or 13 there. The rest up to 9. Could it be that players over 10 automatically participate in the 3pt-contest? Tried that?
Sat Feb 16, 2008 9:32 am
That refers to the players' three point shooting style. NBA Live 2005 is one of the few games to actually utilise that field.

and the link ??? :S

so when is that?
Mon Feb 18, 2008 7:45 am
22. February - so that´s just 5 days away
Mon Feb 18, 2008 8:52 am
Right. Five days. AND all jersey numbers after trades must be done. If a player is traded it takes a while for his number to be released on nba.com.
Just finishing the rookie and sophomore teams. What if two players have the same number? Bargnani has 7, another player also 7. Did those two play with #7 apiece or what did they wear? Does somebody know? Same for another number of the sophomores...Rondo and ...
Mon Feb 18, 2008 9:05 am
They wear their own jersey numbers in the Rookie/Sophomore game. They do that in the All-Star game as well. Up until 1996 players would have unique jersey numbers in the All-Star game but that changed when they started wearing their individual team jerseys in 1997. Even when they went back to wearing an All-Star uniform in 2003, they continued to wear their own numbers so in contrast to the usual rule, there can be teammates wearing the same number on the All-Star teams.
Long story short, keep their original numbers.

Thanks.
The game crashes...damn.

It just doesn't load.
What I did:
Searched for players with team 44 and 45. changed this to 32. Same for cash team. --> previous rookies & sophomores are gone.
Next step:
I looked for e.g. Scola. -> edit -> copy.
Scrolled down, new line. Pasted the player.
Assigned a new ID to him.
Changed his team to 44, cash team to 44.
Repeated these steps for all players of the rookies and sophomores.
Gave them unique roster positions...0 = starting center, 1 = PF, 2 = SF, 3 = SG 4 = PG... 5-8 = on bench.
Then I opened the appearance. Copied all players...and matched their IDs.
e.g. M. Conley has 2438...and he also has the ID in the appearance.dbf.
Why the crash? Did I forget something?
Mon Feb 18, 2008 9:47 am
Do the player IDs have to be in subsequent order? There are in players.dbf but not in appearance. In this file I mixed something... e.g. 2451, 2447, 2454 etc.
Maybe this is the problem.
Mon Feb 18, 2008 10:04 am
The IDs shouldn't have to be in order. It certainly doesn't hurt to have them in order but it shouldn't crash if you don't. Which program are you using to edit the DBF files?
Mon Feb 18, 2008 10:08 am
DB Commander Pro Trial.
EDIT Works now!!!

I just forgot to copy one entry in the appearance-file.
Now it works but there is still ... well. Durant has his face and head but a white body. LOL Something's messed up.
Scola: white head, black body.
Durant: other way round.
Conley: black head, white body.
Durant and Conley don't have shoes (pink shoes) although their copies in SEA and MEM are ok. Very strange. Have to check this.
Mon Feb 18, 2008 10:49 am
Come on, this is a joke or what.

Durant is just fine in Seattle. I copied his record, I checked his ID, he has a new ID, same ID for players and appearance.
I can't find the mistake.
As a matter of fact the first three created players are messed up...Conley, Durant, Scola.
Mon Feb 18, 2008 12:50 pm
In appearance.dbf, have you made sure to set their FACEID to -1 and corrected their COLOR field if necessary? Aside from that, I can't think of what would cause that.
Tue Feb 19, 2008 9:33 am
Andrew I just copied the entries. I copied Durant's entry, gave the copy a new ID... e.g. 2439. Team = 44, cash team = 44.
Then I copied his entry in appearance as well...and gave him the same ID as in players... --> 2439.
As I copied his record his colors are just correct...the normal Durant works, the copy don't. That's why I don't have a clue.
I'm just about to create the Allstar teams before my DB Commander Trial expires. After that I will try to correct colors...although I don't know what might be the problem.
Tue Feb 19, 2008 12:08 pm
I prefer not to copy and paste when it comes to editing the All-Star/Rookie/Sophomore teams. I create the necessary players from within the game then modify them through the DBF to match their existing entries (except for the PLAYERID, TEAM and ROSTERPOS of course). It's a lengthy method but safer in my experience.

hopefully the issues can be fixed. good to see a roster update for 05! im trying to go old school and start playing this again
Thu Feb 21, 2008 1:16 am
Bad news. I'll just release the updated 05 roster without current rookies & sophomores and allstar teams.
I really tried a lot and worked on it but still the teams are messed up. Of course I can include them if somebody helps me out.
As written before the rookies & sophomores have wrong bodies.
The West allstars have the correct line-up but also the wrong bodies. Everything is ok, the IDs match...but still the player with its data is related to the wrong body. Yao Ming has a black body and is small...while A. Iverson has Ming's height but not his color of the skin.
The Eastern allstars are totally messed up. They have 17 or something players...J. Johnson, P. Pierce and another guy are three times on the roster.
I used DB Commander Trial...and the copy and paste method. Copy...and then "paste records"....should I have used "paste records append"? What does "append" do?
Fortunately I kept a backup of the roster before starting to edit the rookies. Therefore, I will definitely release my updated roster without current allstar teams.
If I find a solution I will release the full update of course.
ANDREW: Could I possibly mail you my players.dbf and appearance.dbf? Maybe you find what's wrong.

can't wait to try your roster!
