I love nbalive05 edition but check this IF it's a THREATH...

My main reason for liking the graphics of ESPN over the graphics of Live is that the lighting seems better. Live, in my opinion, looks dark, and it doesn't look like there are any lights actually shining on the court.

Also, the player models(console only) look more realistic to me. Live players look too skinny, in my mind.

Skinny... The players are skinny... They are not weightlifters, they are body lifters (jumping high). It takes a certain bodytype to do that at the level some of these athletes do it... If you have a humongous upper body (like everybody on ESPN) you can't jump as well. Have you seen the real NBA players??? They are really not that heavy looking... They really don't all look like bodybuilders.

I'd say that the average NBA player is rather skinny than a body builder. Remember that the 230 pounds isn't that much for a guy who's 6'9"... There are the bigger guys, like Shaq, Kemp etc. that are really big in all proportions, but most of the players are skinny in real life in comparison to their height... So I'd say EAs got it right, not ESPN...

Look at Ron Artest and tell me they didn't make him too small, or Ben Wallace. I'd like so see how big Jahidi White is in the game, anyways, Tayshaun is the right size

Even though im an nba live fanboy...i'll be buying espn 2k5 for my xbox also. The main reason is because of the price and it seems to capture the nba atmosphere more..with the 3d excited crowd.

Same here YB, I don't feel the need to pick one over the other in terms of taking sides. I prefer Live but I'll be picking up ESPN with it's $20.00 price tag, why not?

But I'm quite sure I'll be spending the vast majority of time playing the best game basketball game in the universe to the sweet (yet redundant) sounds of Marv and Mike.

ESPN 2K5 is Live's main competition. I think its worthwhile to compare the two games, and in those areas where ESPN is better to point it out.

Think about this guys last year if we wanted both we'd have to spend 100 bucks + tax to get them. this year it'll be a little more than 60 bucks!!!!

ESPN and Live are in direct competition; everyone knows that. It's not just another game. There's a new star wars game that came out, but that has nothing to do with features that should have or could have been implemented in Live. With ESPN, we can compare player models, CAP features, arena details, dynatsy-mode stuff, etc. It makes it easier to talk about things that realistically could have been done with Live but weren't. I think its relevant. That said, the discussion SHOULD be geared towards comparing the two games, and not simply be an adverisement for ESPN 2K5. I think that goes without saying.

Hey guys here are the few updates re: ESPN 2k5

1. As ive told u always and later proved by the recent preview by TEAMBOX that ESPN 2k5 is going to rock basketball gamers and get the NBA crown over LIVE. The guy who posted that LIVe 05 will be better is out of his mind. As of now, have we seen any footage fr. live 05?? nah! But VC managed to produced sample clips and we're able to see the awesome graphics presented by the new triple pass rendering technology applied by VC so it's like watching real nba players unlike the cartoonist type of nba live.

2. That's VC first priority, GRAPHICS and now accdg. to my cousin they are now working on the gameplay and fixing all the glitches that we encountered on 2k4.

3. It is going to be like OVERHAULING YOUR CAR and the result will be a top class car loaded with nitros and new engines.

4. The new commentary courtesy of BILL WALTON is going to cope up with LIVE's top commentators. The lines will not be scripted like 2k4.

5. Player's rating and movement will be based on their actual stats and the movements will be more realistic. You won't see SHAQ doing cross-overs.

6. Each home team will have their unique intros during the finals. The playoffs and finals logo will now be included.

7. There will be big highlights and replays during half-time like in some soccer video games plus the sidelights of TAFOYA.

8. We are going to see players warming up before the opening toss.

9. THERE WILL BE MANY NEW DUNK AND LAY-UP MOVES so those nasty dunks from 2k4 will soon be over.

10. We're going to see new videos by JULY showing better improvements on the gameplay.

11. There will be a surprise addition in the ALL-STAR WEEKEND!!

12. RELEASE DATE WILL BE ON OCT. 5 or few days after the mentioned TARGET DAY..

13. MY cousin won't disclosed any matters re: FRANCHISE & 24/7 modes but he assured me that it will be very DEEP..

Tayshan PRINCE is now the basketball prince of NBA fresh legs. CAMPBELL AND HUNTER is hunting their former team with their quality games.. The BIG GUYS OKUR & MILICIC are their future twin towers plus WILLIAMSON thus completing THE NEW DYNASTY OF NBA, DETROIT PISTONS!!! Prediction 4-1 or 4-2. Kobe won't be MJ. MJ is the greatest NBA player and the BULLS-JAZZ ERA is the most awesome NBA FINALS i've seen. LAKERS-CELTICS is only second.

If this information is true..especially the things I have put in bold, then the runnings between Live and ESPN will be even tighter and ESPN COULD take it this year, but Live still has the freestyle controls which destroy ESPN's offense movements! (BTW if this info was confirmed to be false already , I'm sorry for bringing this up!)
