at lol: ONLY 7 shots in 8 minutes quarter? Thats 28 shots per game. thats actually a bit on the high side. I havent really had anyproblems with assists.. both me and cpu are consistently in high teens to mid 20s in assists.
The more I play the game, I see what is causing the shot blocks and steals and such, I was taking the defense for granted alot, making passes that really should be picked off, because in last years game, and previous ones, they wouldntve have been stolen. Now that im playing alot smarter, the game flow is nearly perfect. Still alot of blocks though.
Mon Nov 08, 2004 6:15 am
As weird to you as this might sound but with the sliders ive been using i cant block a single shot, even with the block shot rating set at 100!!!
Sure i am using the knicks who's best shot blocker has a rating of 53 but that shouldnt matter with the rating set at 100.
In the last game i played i had 1 block the whole game while the cpu had 5, is it just me or has anyone else had this problem??

lol wrote:some comments on your slider fgrep15:
1. too easy to offensive rebound. in one game lakers vs. houston. i (lakers) had 21 rebounds while the pc has only 6. In the other game, 76ers vs. utah i managed to grab 18 off.rebounds while the pc has only 4.
2. pc very few assist ( i dont know what to adjust to improve this)
3. pc very few inside play. example, i played indiana (me) vs. miami. and shaq took only 7 shots in 8 minute quarter. is there anything we can adjust to improve this?
4. too much pressure on the point guard (not realistic)
The assists is a problem with the game, sometime they'll get assists, but other times they won't, it's because playrs don't catch and shoot enough, and the lack of many fastbreaks.
Offensive boards, I try not to do it myself so much because I get too many, but just turn the offensive rebounds down, if still too many then put it to 0 because even at 0 you'll still grab them. If still too many then turn the computers defensive rebound up till it balances out

.
Inside plays, that's actually too many shots for Shaq in one quarter if you're playing 8 minutes. In 8 minutes quarters Shaq would only be taking something like 13 shots the whole game. Unless you meant he took that many shots in the game?
About the pressure on the PG, I don't know, I'll look into that.

Still scouting, I want to see the improvements players have made from last year, and I haven't watched all the rookies in action in an NBA game yet, just seen boxscores for some, but not long from now I will start posting them.
Mon Nov 08, 2004 3:18 pm
what i mean is that shaq made only 7 attempts in the whole game.
thanks again.

I have just played two games with mp3's slider settings. Very nice work man.
First game Hornets vs. the Lakers ... was a blowout. I couldn't stop neither Odom nor Bryant. They won 116-92.
Second game ... Hornets vs. Charlotte Bobcats. It was close until the end of the third, where I pulled away with a 9-0 run to close the quarter. I was up 82-73 by then. They didn't score for about 1 and a half minute in the third and over 3 minutes at the beginning of the fourth. I extended my lead to 20 somewhere in the fourth and they never managed a comeback. Finally I won a game on Superstar with 12 minute quarters

. 103 - 84 was the final score. Jamaal Magloire got a triple double with 20 pts, 14 reb and 10 ass. Baron Davis had a nice line too ... 26 pts, 5 reb, 4 ass, 4 stl, 1 blk.
So I think I may have found the right sliders ... thanks a lot mp3. Rebounds are still a bit high tho, both teams pulling down over 50 of 'em, but other than that, sliders work fine.

That's probably due to your shots per game, not a slider problem, unless their's a discrepancy in the ratio of offensive to defensive rebounds then then the sliders are fine.
Too man rebounds is normally due to too many shots being taken in the game.

Possible. The Bobcats took 97 shots or so, the Hornets 95 if I remember correctly. Given the fact that neither of us shot more than 50%, over 50 rebounds sounds about right.
Oh and regarding that dynasty of mine ... I'll wait til Andrew releases the updated rosters with updated ratings, than I'll start a dynasty.

Like fgrep15 said its down to the shots per game, ive just been playing a game where both cpu and player(me) rebounding ratings where set to 0 but they were still shooting still missing and still rebounding so the only other thing left to change was to lower the game speed so hopefully less shot attempts but the game play wasnt realistic, to much standing around.
Also been working on the assists thing and also like fgrep15 said its just the game not the sliders, the only way i could make it alittle better was to higher the game speed up to 60-65 but the game got way out of control plus the rebounding was off the chart!!
for now, i think the sliders are as realistic as we are going to get.

Works for me ...

. Someone rose suspicions, that the game sometimes doesnt count an assist. That might actually be true. But I still managed to get 23 assists in the Charlotte game ... which was down from my 30 assist average in Live 04, but still nice

.
About the rebounds ... I'll try to shot fewer shots and try to limit the oppositions shots too.
And like I said ... other than that I am pretty satisfied with those sliders. A few minor things, which apparently can't be dealt with by the sliders, won't ruin the fun for me.
Now all I need is a new Roster patch, with updated ratings and my dynasty can start.

Sup Peoples,
As usual, am using fgrep's sliders.
I'm six games into my 82-game season using 12 minute quarters, playing as Orlando.
Through my first three to four game, I like many other were experiencing unrealistic stats in both rebounding and assists.
However, as I've started to get a lot better at playing the game, I have also learnt to master shooting at a greater efficiency. I have also gotten better at throwing better passes to cutters in the key, those who become open outside of the keyway for a short time etc etc etc ....
This has led to an upsurge in assists, and a down surge in rebounding. The stats for both are damn similar to real life.
Sat Nov 13, 2004 6:00 pm
I've tried the sliders for All-Star 9min games but ever since i've been getting easy wins. User stats are pretty realistic, but cpu seems to play real bad, low % shots, lots of bad passes... Gonna try mp3's sliders now and see what that gives. I'm planning on starting my dynasty with those settings once the updated rosters come out.
Sun Nov 14, 2004 3:03 am
i tried mp3´s sliders and had the most realistic games so far, only complain is that the cpu had too few assists...
Sun Nov 14, 2004 3:18 am
Ive just struck a problem in my dynasty, in the last 3 games ive played (hornets, raptors, jazz) the cpu wouldnt shoot!! it only took buzzer beaters!! WTF ive changed NOTHING!!
Any ideas anyone?

I have change a few things using all of you guys advice regarding sliders. I would really like to have you guys try these sliders, and please post opinions, changes, and feedback. Thanks.

Can anybody post sliders for 7 minute(per quarter) game for superstar?
Wed Nov 17, 2004 4:11 pm
For what it's worth, I'm getting close to a set of slider suggestions that I feel are suitable for 12 minute quarters on the higher difficulty settings. As soon as I'm satisfied with them (though no doubt I'll make further tweaks based on suggestions), I'll post them and include them in future versions of the NLSC roster update.

Hi, i'm new here, but i play nba live for few years. Same as everybody here, thx to Andrew, he 's doing great job on rosters and sliders.
dkemp:

Rrrrrrrrggggggggwwwwwwwwwhhhhhhhhh, terrible, ugly sliders. i had played 4 games with your sliders and everytime with about 22 blocks per game.
otherwise, mp3's and fgrep15's sliders are good, i tried both.
Fri Nov 19, 2004 2:17 am
mp3 or fgrep15, could one of you guys pls make a slider for all-star. tnx...

fgrep15 wrote:mike879 wrote:i have a question, im not sure if its simple, but ill give it a try...
if we use realistic sliders... then we have starter, all-star and superstar... wats the difference?
i mean if i sure one set of sliders here... then i played all-star... then i switched to superstar.... would it be harder?
thx.
The CPU shoots better on superstar, so you might have to have the shooting sliders down in comparison to All-Star, I think shooting sliders would be the only thing to change, I can't think of anything else.
I got the game on Friday and ive been playing on superstar 12min quarters using fgrep15 sliders for this setting but the cpu has been shooting so many 3's!!
Anyone else got that problem?
Anyway to fix that?
What teams did you play, and about how many have they been taking?
I'll look into it....oh how tendency sliders would help so much

I'm currently playing 10mins Allstar level, if I am to use a 12min superstar slider what "shooting sliders" should I modify? thanks
