hey guys, what's your most number of consecutive tip-in attempts? i managed 6 with steven hunter of phoenix! it was cool!
Sat Nov 13, 2004 7:51 pm
I had 4 with Anderson Varejao.
Sat Nov 13, 2004 10:15 pm
I've had 4 with Shaq and then Wade came flying in and dunked it
Sun Nov 14, 2004 1:22 am
I haven't had any yet haha
Sun Nov 14, 2004 3:24 am
haha, that's cool. it's like playing volleyball! that's one of my most favorite about nba live 2005 - tip ins!

i had 3 with pat garrity in my last game.
Sun Nov 14, 2004 3:42 am
I had 12 with Etan Thomas.
Sun Nov 14, 2004 6:28 am
I once tipped a huuuuuuge brick.

I wonder if it's possible to tip in from the 3 pt line...
Sun Nov 14, 2004 7:49 am
For consecutive tip-ins, I got 4 with Ben Wallce. He kept grabbing the ball when he missed a layup. I thought it would never go in.

You can tip shots even when they're rattling in. So as long as you have inside position you can just tip and tip and tip...
I made the mistake of tipping a T-Mac three-pointer late in the game that was on the way in. Doh.
Sun Nov 14, 2004 1:21 pm
my most was 9 with camby...i couldve kept going but i decided to stop because it was getting too unrealistic
Sun Nov 14, 2004 2:05 pm
wow! great numbers! tip-ins (successful and unsuccessful) all count as rebounds, right?
Sun Nov 14, 2004 2:20 pm
If that's true, it shouldn't be too hard to beat Wilt's rebounding records..
Mon Nov 15, 2004 1:42 am
yup, i just confirmed that indeed all tip-in attempts are tallied as rebounds... and in one game, dalembert was able to tally 21 rebounds, jackson 10 boards, thomas 18 boards, iverson 6 boards (including 3 tip-ins would you believe!), etc.
with this, chamberlain's record is in big trouble
Mon Nov 15, 2004 3:22 am
... had 4 with bibby, all miiiiissed... he was under the basket, playing with the ball, everyone else watching... not even trying to block........... ;(
anyway, what in your opinion makes a tip-in go in ??? timing ? hitting it close enough ???

No, I'm serious. I just stood right under the rim tipping it in just to see how many I could get. The thing is you can goaltend your own shots and the ref doesnt call it. I went into instant replay to count them and I counted 12.
Mon Nov 15, 2004 5:37 am
U gotta be kidding me(lol). 12??????????Anyways wat level were u playing on?
Mon Nov 15, 2004 5:43 am
All-Star or Superstar. I was playing my wiz dynasty so I think it was All-Star. Because of the tip-in bug I guess you could say, my cavaliers team in my dynasty averages over 50 rpg.
Mon Nov 15, 2004 6:01 am
Thats a lot of boards u averaging.

the tip-ins tend to make me curse alot, i don't know if i just suck at them or not, but they tend to just keep bouncing. i'm sure not as many as 12 times, but 3-5 most every time. maybe i just need more practice
Tue Nov 16, 2004 8:01 pm
i think tip-ins are all about timing... i would have say the angle counts too, but i am able to do tip ins out of nowhere sometimes the player doing the tip in isn't even facing the basket!
12 tip ins isn't impossible... i got 12 rebounds with one player just 5 minutes into the game... thanks to tip-ins!

I think the tip-ins are too easy to abuse even in superstar. my friend once overwhelmed me with tip-ins that he got 66 rebounds as opposed to my 22 rebounds for only 5 minutes. i am good with rebounds, but he found this tip-in to be too abusive, and i did not know that. I lost the game to my frustration.
the next day i tried to do that to another friend. i just wanted to see how it can be abused so i always shot at the halfcourt and tried to rebound it. i won the game doing just tip-ins
Wed Nov 17, 2004 10:29 pm
do you box out? boxing out almost always prevents offensive rebounds..
Wed Nov 17, 2004 11:26 pm
I always box out. what's weird is, i asked my friend if he does that and he told he doesnt. well hes the best rebounder among us coz its his specialty. but i tried it out also with another friend of mine, although he is not that of a good rebounder, so i won that game using only tip ins (more offensive than defensive)
i tried it out again on another good rebounder. i did not abuse it as much, but i still got too many offensive rebounds.
