"Only players on user-controlled teams may be edited&qu

Anyone know a way around this irritating little message in Dynasty mode? (I know that 2005 is not played as much anymore, but a patch to disable this message would be AWESOME.)

Long story short, the 2005 Editor no longer works for me. If I try to edit a computer generated player, or oddly enough, Yuta Tabuse (the only non generated player that also causes this error), I get an error message in the editor saying "Unable to Load the Player Information". I have all the files needed to run the editor, and it did work at one time. I just don't know why it does this now.

So I figured if there was a way around the in-game message in this topic title, that would be a lot easier than having to exit out of the game to mess around with .dbfs and such.

If nobody has any ideas, anyone want to suggest a way to edit my .dbf files so that I don't corrupt them? It's a slight pain wanting to work with only a couple columns of data when there are like 40 columns of numbers there, most of which I could care less about. If I try to sort the columns in Excel, my dynasty gets ruined. Staring at these things in Excel is giving me a headache.

Thanks for any suggestions.

First of all, if you dont want to corrupt any files, then back them up before you touch them.

What exactly are you trying to edit?

Mostly little things that irritate me. Having 5 people on one team with the same jersey number (seen it happen quite a few times), or having rookies that are clearly labeled the wrong positions (6-4 and 6-5 power forwards, even saw a 6-7, 198 lbs. center once).

I've noticed that in Excel, if I re-order or do anything at all with the columns, the dynasty is screwed. I usually sort by the TEAM and NUMBER columns and work from there (in a copy of the file, so as not to mess up the original). The 2005 editor saved on a bit of work, I could make the jersey changes in it. But since I've not been able to get it working lately, I've had to go back to using just .dbf editors.

It's a bit of a pain to work with two Excel windows open at once. If there was a way to patch out the "Only players on user-controlled teams may be edited" message, I'd be one happy gamer.

if ur trying to edit the database use db commander in the downloads section on the main page

I've tried DB Commander. Seems to be rather user unfriendly.

How do I sort by columns in it? I know how to in Excel, but not in this program. The help files were less than helpful.
